Thank you everyone for the input. I told him that we needed to do a ring job but he already took it to a local mechanic who told him that the crank shaft was grooved and that the motor needed to be re-built. $2000. I told him that that just did not sound right and to pick up his bike ASAP. He took it to another shop that he used before but was further away to get an opinion on the crank shaft. They told him that it looked fine and showed no wear. He would need to bore the jug out .25 over and get matching over sized rings, piston, wrist pin and two pin clips and a top end gasket set. Parts at Ron Ayers with a few extra bolts , etc (unrelated)... approximately $155.00 + $40 or so for a bore job. Does this sound complete for a top end job? Thanks again everyone for the help. BTW... does Ron Ayers sell OEM parts are are they aftermarket? We will try the local dealer first is the prices are not too much higher.
