I really don't know... just cruisin' at about 25 miles/hr, then the brake light went on and a really loud back fire.  So then I hit the brakes cuz the motor was bogging and then smoke starts coming out under the rear seat so my wife stands up and then flames start coming up from under the seat.  We jump off and within 30 secs, it was just a huge ball of fire.
???????

Nope... the fire started on the right hand side (throttle side)
And the Brute backfired before the fire erupted... I was thinking more like fuel system problem (gas line, or even electrical)

That wouldn't have caused the fire under the seat. When the metal screen under the air filter is removed the motor can backfire through the carbs and catch the air filter on fire.

Nope... the metal screen was in place, never touched it.  When I say the fire started under the seat, I meant in the rear, under the passenger.

The only connector I had fixed was the radiotor fan's connector.  The uss connector was not recalled on 06, I believe.

As for insurance,  they are still evaluating the value of the bike.

I'll only get market value though...

Man that sucks. I bet the buss connectors had something to do with it though. I would check and see if there were any recalls for that for the 06s. That would make kawi liable would it not?? Best of luck to you though.

I'll probably call Kawasaki tomorrow to inquire about those '06 Brute bus connectors....

Has anybody else heard of other '06 Brutes going up like a friggin' bon fire?

Haven't heard of them going up like a bonfire but the buss connector problem wasn't fixed until 07. It may have something to do with your problem.

some on here or another forum had the harness catch fire i think. i remember them saying it starting making all sorts of strange sounds, lights on dash flashing, still running with key off. took it apart, rear buss connector had burned up. he was lucky. i read this just maybe a week ago. i am sorry to hear this. this is a problem that better be covered by kawasaki or insurance somehow.

buss connectors wernt fixed until the 07 models, like what was said earlier.
