I have grown tired of how loud my HMF is even after a fresh repack all it takes is one dunk to make it loud again so i installed a quiet core..lol
i modded the stock muffler like others have, might be alittle loss of power between the 2 but the noise level is so much better now, i wont feel like the neighbors are in there house cursing at my when i riding around my pasture..lol

some pix, i ended up drilling a few more holes then this before i put the end back on.
dang those pictures are big

They dont sound bad a all with modded stock exhaust..... I cant stand HMF's I had mine for 1 day took it back off and sold it.

Yeah it sounds real nice, has a low rumble or growl to it

i just cant take that HMF anymore, if iam going to do any raceing i will put it back on, but for just my normal riding its off..lol
i feel it lost alittle on top end but the bottom end power feels close. good enough..lol

Well i had bought the HMF used, but as time went by i want something alittle quieter and the Super trap is just as loud as the HMF is. this was also cheap as i had everything to do it with and i did it.

The Supertrapp comes with a removable spark arrester. I ran mine at first without it, and yes it was loud. I also got tired of all that noise. I put the arrester back in last weekend and road all day without ears ringing. It's as quiet as the stock pipe.

Well good deal i did not no it made them so quiet.

but alot of this was do to lack of funds. My wife would shoot me if i bought another muffler and had a total of 3 of them (i hate sellig things ..lol ) she allready gives me crap because i have 4 sets of wheels and tires plus a set of LE wheels just setting on the floor...lol

Yes I have one of those too! She swears if i buy one more thing for my four wheeler, myself or it will end up on Craigslist or Ebay. Let me ask you something. I have an 05 H-1, of course all that you can put on it. I read other forms of people riding wheelies effortlesslly and tons of power. I,ve done everything exept for porting and polishing the head and changing out the piston which is next. But mine seems to fall on it's face when in deep thick mud. Any idea's?

Yes I read your article before. I'm just getting back into the forum. I am running the Supertrapp Mudslinger, 2" snorkel, and Edelbrock 38 mill quickshot carb. Not sure what the jetting is in it, but it was for a race bike.

i cant take all the noise either. i wanna mod my facto pipe and snorkel it but i am just taking it slow to get all the info i can and then go do it.

I was really surprised how quiet the Supertrapp was when I put it on. At first I was like are you kidding. Then I read it had a removable spark arrester. I took it out and oh boy what a difference in sound, but it was like the HMF, it was rediculous.

also do you no what weight the rollers you have in it are..? lighter then stock rollers really help in thicker mud and if they are heavyer that wont help any. stock is like 21gram or close to that.

Dont no anything about that carb, guess all i can say is make sure the jetting is good on it..

have you got that muffler wet yet..? my HMF was pretty good untill it got a few dunkings then thats when it got crazy loud.

everything on it is stock. the only thing i have is an intake snorkel. i wanna do the exhaust snork and the jetting the same day to get it right. im in no rush though i am building an audiotube right now waiting for all my parts to come in. i dont wanna work myself out of all my lil projects.

Good thing your not a welder for a living lol j/j,im thinking about modding mine as well and just ordering a lime green end cap and making it fit.i took my HMF off a while back and went back to stock,it gave me a headache everytime i went riding.

LOL yeah i had a hard time welding that thin metal with my Arc welder

i could do it with a mig used to be pretty good with one of those but not so much with a stick welder..lol

yeah welding can get tricky,i like squirt gun welding myself because of how clean it looks but stick welding is just less aggravating.I hate unjamming the wire and fooling with the wire speed and all that crap.

I was worried G. Glad you clarified that was a stick welder, probably an ac machine.....lol

I liked mine modded, I just like the look of aftermarket pipes better. And the Speedwerx aren't as loud as an HMF.

Although that first one I bought for the 650 ended up being a race pipe. Its on the TC now and it is loud. (no baffles)
The one I got for the TC is a true slip on, no bolting required, has 1 baffle, sounded good on the TC, but made the 650 sound real good. I'm happy with speedwerx, but I am thinking about trying the mudslinger on the TC. just for grins.

GWC how many jet sizes did you have to go down as that would be an indication of the power loss

I have not changed any jets as of now, i will be doing a jetting run tomorrow to see what my top end speed is like, it feels real good on the bottom but kinda feels stuffed up some on the top end compared to the open flowing HMF. but its soo much quieter..lol
my pilot jet was alittle lean before and i think this might of made it better i will see tomorrow.

when I did my brothers exhaust I welded a heavey piece of plate steel to the end of the exhaust and welded it up all pretty so can barely tell it has been modded. Then I drilled holes and tapped them to accept the HMF tip so it looks nice and clean.

well i did just turn 40..

so i guess iam to old

if i do any racing my HMF will go back on but just to be riding around here it was way to loud.

thats kinda what i did Mudtech i welded a flat peice over the whole end of the pipe, If i could weld good it will pretty much look stock..lol
the HMF end cap is a good idea shoot you could probably stick in the spark arrester if needed then..

is it rhinolined? whats it coated with? will it be better then the stock coating that doesnt seem to last? lol.

I painted it with High Heat paint, then went over that with the black Wrinkle paint so it would match my other black parts. well see how it does. might all burn right off..lol

I had a mudslinger exhaust and my spark arrestor didn't do anything to the sound. In fact, the arrestor blew apart in 5 minutes every time I put it in. Yes I ordered like 5 arrestors and they all blew up in 5 minutes.
