Just got a new HMF pipe and went out a couple of times came out of a mudhole and it sounded funny My spark aresster screen was plugged so I took it out for the rest of the trip Towards the end of the day the exhaust got louder Now I see my packing is starting to plug with mud Can I clean this or do I need to get new packing.Bike does not sound as good anymore.

The packing does not last long in the mud and water.  The mud will create a barrier to the packing making it louder.  Water saturates the packing making it louder as well.  Both water and mud keep the fiberglass packing from muffling the sound.  It does not effect your performance.  You can pull the pipe off and either soak or pressure wash the layer of mud out.

I have the same issues. Just leave the spark arrestor screen at home on the bench. My pipe is just a big tube full of dried mud now. I take it off periodically and let it soak in a tall container of water for a few days....a ton of mud falls out. Haven't bothered to have it repacked since the shipping is kinda cost prohibitive.

I think any pipe that gets submerged has these problems. One buddy runs the stock exhaust and it is visibly plugged....I kept telling him that it sounded like a jet behind him every time he got on the gas....finally he shined a light in there and WHOWA.....very plugged.
