Ok so I thought I had a bad water pump but have checked and it is not leaking...

My 07 800xt will run for about 20 minutes and then the temp light will come on. I will have to wait for 5 min or so and then it is ready to go again, its 80-85 degrees. The fan comes on while its running and before it overheats so I do not think it is related to the fan.

Is their any other common problems with the outlanders that cause heat? I was able to run this time last year and never saw a light...

I know I still have the winter oil in from when I had it changed by the dealer - not sure if that will cause more heat...
all fluids are topped off, I am not losing coolant.

Is there a thermostat on this that could be going faulty? I only have 50 hrs on this but ive had it for a year so the warranty is up... I spent a lot of time cleaning the radiator dont know how it could be anything related to that.

Mine did the same thing and I thought I had my radiator all cleaned up as well.  So when it was still overheating I pulled the radiator and this is what it looked like behind the radiator fan where I could not get to w/a water hose.

If thats not it, there is a thermostat.  It runs 208-210 degrees F.  U would need to get the exact replacement from BRP to make sure it runs in those temp zones.  At least thats what I was told by BRP.

i doubt its the thermostat it would be one of the first ones i have heard of going bad... check your bat cables these rides do all kinds of crazy things when they are loose or have a loose connetion also check the plug on the temp sensor... if all that is good check the raditor behind the fan... mine likes to get hot thats why its going up on the rak just as soon as i get it back

anything is possible, may possibly be missing..  that'd cause it to overheat over time..  if radiator is good and fan is good, I'd check to see if thermostat is missing or malfunctioning (put it in a pot of water on the stove and see what temp it opens at)

May have just been mud behind the radiator... My dad has been riding it this wknd and washed that out... said its better. I am 4 hrs away so cant look at it myself.

I remember cleaning it pretty good though because I was worried about it. The last ride I took it on I was in some deep clay like mud though... Are you guys removing the radiator when you clean them or what? The parts of the radiator I can see are clean but they said they found a little mud and cleaned it out? Is their an easy way to just pull this radiator out and clean it if you do go through some really nasty mud like that?

Just a thought on heat.
I'm thinking of making a Garden hose adapter with 1/2 PVC with a 90 deg on the end. To make spraying the back of the radiator more affective.
