My 08' 800 Sportsman is snorkled to the pod but it kept getting water in the belt drive. So I filled up the belt case with water and noticed a leak somewhere in the back of the housing by the tranny, but I can not pin point it. Does anyone have an idea of what may need to be sealed, how to do it, and how to get to it? Many thanks for the help.....

There is a seal on the housing backing plate at the tranny and the motor. You need to remove the cover and pull both clutches and remove the backing plate for the cover. New seals and sily-con should fix you right up.

That's great, thanks. I thought it was going to be something time consuming and difficult like, putting on a zip tie or plugging a vent hose. :)

Yeah that's me. SHe follows me everywhere. I thought if I had the 800 and bought her the 500 I would be able to out run her, but she always knows the short cuts.. hahaha.

mine leaked right off the bat as well.  mud duck has it right you'll need a primary puller remove the clutches and you'll see a plate with 3 screws remove it and take a lot of silicone and go crazy with it around the seal.  another good thing to do while your in there is to put another coat around the inside of the belt intake for added security.

with the clutches removed its easy to get to the belt air intake where your snorkels hook up at which is a pain to get to otherwise.  while your in there silconing the rear gasket put a good coat from the inside of that snorkel joint just so you don't have a leak later on.  which do the same for the belt exhaust as well you can never use to much silicone

they make a tool to get the primary off with but you can fab one using a  3/4" fine thread bolt and a 3/8" socket extension about 3" long, works perfect for popping the primary off....no need to buy a tool.
Take out the middle bolt...insert the extension and then the 3/4" bolt....and tighten slowly till primary pops off.

or you can buy a tool for around 30.00
