i figured while i got everything taken apart for the lift kit to be installed i should clean out the diffs and replace the gear oil in them.

Question 1
i know that the best way to clean them is to flush them with diesel, but how should i go about that?
do i just fill em up then drain em and repeat, or what?

Question 2
What weight of gear oil should i use to fill em back up? and is there  a sertain kind i should or should not use?

Question 3
how much do i refill the diffs with?
i would assume you just fill them until it is flush with the bottom of the fill whole, but im not sure.
also what happens if you get too much, or too little?

#1. the way i didnt it was jack all for tires up and fill with diesal (sp) and let then run it for a lil while then flush a few times with some good oil.

#2. i use lucas 80w/90 ( i ithnk that is the weight AC calls for)

#3. i cant remeber how much to put in them but check your owners manual and i just put a lil less than what it calls for

I put 8 oz. of 90 wt. front and rear...The owners manual calls for a little more than that though. I also buy the cheapest gear oil I can find because I change it after every ride.

As stated above Put it on jack stands. Run it 5 or 10 mins. in 4wd in high with the idle turned up enough to spin the wheels around 10 mph. Kill it drain the oil. Refill with diesel and repeat until clean. Front and rear take around 8 oz. I'm with BC on this one, I use the cheap 80w90. I change my diff oil so often it doesn't matter. Also might want to change all 4 diff seals when you tear it apart. Get the new updated ones.

The last time My seals went bad, I didnt have time to change them out so I let my Dealer change them, and he said that he put the new ones in, and I rode about 20 miles and and there leaking really bad....Not to sure if it was the seals or the installer.....

If you run just grease the needle bearings that support the pinion will burn up.

What i do is pack the whole area around the diff seal with Lucas Red and Tacky marine grease and then fill the diff up with (i think) 80/140 weight oil, and by fill it up i do mean run it alittle low.
Only thing i ever found buy packing in the grease is if you pack the locker side real full it will not read "locked" as the grease stops it from having its ground.
I have been doing this for maybe 2yrs now and i dont have diff seals leak on me.

why fill it a lil low? i been wanting to do the same thing. i dont ride THAT much water mostly not too deep rutted sloppy holes. but it definately covers the diff so i want to check to see if the fluids bad. not too much time with the new baby. i need to print my manual and see the process.

gwc where do you put  grease? is it inside where the seals are or is that when you change the seals?

I run them alttile low just to make sure they dont get to full and then leak.

I pulled my axles out and packed the grease on the diff seal and behind it, this just help keep the diff fliud in the diff and water out i have had good luck with it. last time out we rode DEEP water all day and i did not have any water in my diffs at all none.
