My cousin is trading his 06' chevy crew cab for a new body style 07'. The 06' has some 305/55/20's on it mounted on 20/10" rims that we made fit with a combo of leveling and trimming of the front valence and inner fenders. What I was wondering is if the same can be done to fit them on the new truck, or if he is going to have to go with more lift to make them fit? I'm thinking it's going to take a 3" lift to make them fit well, but I'm not sure.

Just looking at the new truck tonight, I'm not sure how "trimmable" the front bumper and inner fender well is compared to the 06'. He is really wanting to avoid having to cut on the painted part of the plastic bumper. The biggest I have seen on these trucks are 285's, so I kind of figured the 305's on 10" rims would be pushing the limits.

i have 2007 nbs crew cab with the 2" leveling kit and i am running 20" factory tahoe wheels,275-60-20 cooper st in which they are 33" tall about 10.5"wide.i believe the factory wheels 20 by 8.5 in. wide.they clear with no problem, but i believe you will never clear the 12.50 wide tires.

Well he broke down and went ahead and ordered a body lift to go with the leveling kit. If he has to do any trimming now it should be very little IMO. Thanks for the responses everyone.

Another question I have is if the tire pressure monitors in the stock wheels can be used in the aftermarket wheels, or is he going to have to get different ones? The truck has the stock 18's on it and he is putting american racing 20's on it with dick cepeck FC-II's.

Well just an update on the situation. After putting the body lift and leveling kit on the truck the tires still rub pretty good on the inner fenderwells. I would have thought that 4.5" of total lift on the front would have been enough, but I guess not. Where it is rubbing there is metal behind the plastic as well, so I don't think it would do any good to trim it. I guess if you want to run 33/12.50's and bigger on 10" wide rims on a new chevy, you're going to have to go with a 6" lift if you don't want them to rub.

Cut the metal and weld it back up. lol  I know a lot of people that do this to their brand new trucks believe it or not.
