I got a 1996 Honda FTX. It makes this clicking sound when i try to kick start it and wont catch. Someone help me out here?

does the engine make a sound after you kick it like its winding down? have you ever drove the bike does the engine braking work

thats exactly what mine is doing. and no, the engine braking doesnt seem to work either.

If it makes a winding down sound after you shut the motor off and you have no engine breaking it is definitly the one way bearing. Been there, done that.

it does make that winding down noise when i kill it and it feels like it doesnt catch when i try to kick it. i think im goin to get my fly wheel replaced and have my transmission looked at cuz its actin up too

i got a 85 big red older brother of the 300 mine does the same thing it's the one way bearing

one way bearing is simple to replace takes about as much time to do a clutch kit actually a little less just pull the clutch cover pull the centrifugal clutch and inside the hub is the bearing pop it out pop the new one in takes bout thirty min to do just make where it says this side out its out cause will not work if not and the bearing is about 80 bucks i think

easy enough to take that side cover off just undo it and look and see whats broke did i clutch kit on my buddies in 45 min. just replace the gasket and make sure all your springs go back to the right places.

unless you always have a problem putting on the clutch cover then it really dont matter. if you do it on all four just stick grease on the part that engages the clutch to hold it all in place and just remember the centrifugal clutch has left hand threads

and if you pull the clutch out dont forget to put the one way roller clutch get put on the right way or as soo n as you put your bike in gear it will try to run away
