Well my little project kept getting delayed since I started on it months ago. But today I finally found time to get it put together. And special thanks to Psycho ward for helping my figure out the wiring. Now some people may not like it, and some may but it still puts a smile on my face. I hardly ever get the biggest or fastest of anything so I normally go for the custom look. But here's some pics. Its an aftermarket clear taillight off a Suzuki SV 650.

With the headlights

And the brake lights

The new light is all siliconed up tight and hopefully I wont see any water floating in it. And there are also amber led turn signals in it which I may just wire up to a flasher or wig wag switch one of these days. To further improve the looks I'm ordering the rear fairing for the motorcycle to fill in the blank space more. Check it out and hope you like it.

If anyone is curious about how to wire it here is the post with the exact description the way I did it.
http://www.highlifter.com/forum/m_2874500/mpage_1/key_led/tm.htm#2887338

Instead of 2 hot wires and one ground Can-am uses 2 grounds as the switch and one hot wire. This is a problem hooking up a normal led brake light so that post shows a way around that. There may be an easier way but this one gets the job done.

Few more pics of the install.
The brake switch wires. One goes to the "brake lights" of the taillight, and the other is wired in with the power accessory plug (cigarette lighter) so that its only on with the ignition.

And I managed to lose the factory taillight harness and only had the one left on the bike, So I cut it off and rewired a 4 prong trailer harness in its place. I hate sodering wires so they are all just crimped together with connectors. As an extra step I filled the connectors with di-electric grease before hand, the used heat shrink, electrical tape, then finished it off with a wire loom.

And of course zip tied the wires out of the way. I'll try to get some good night pictures later.

looks pretty good will look alot better with the rear fairing. since you have been in there with the wiring i havent even looked at mine yet is there a way to make the outlanders rear light not stay on all the time. like it lights up only when the brakes are applied any other time its off. i dont like how at night mine stays on all the time then gets brighter when you hit the brakes i want to do away with the constant on.

I believe you would need to  cut one of the wires on the taillight side to do that. Since I scrapped mine I don't recall which one it is. I do know the red wire is the hot so it would have to be one of the other wires. Just be sure not to cut on the factory harness side.

I'm pretty sure it was the black wire that was hot with key on .

Justin that looks great. I need a new one already, as I got rear ended in the swamp cross race @ creekbottom friday night, and cracked it. Now water gets in it. But I did end up winning that race at least...lol

psycho ward would you know if its possible to just get my brake light to come on with only an application of the brakes. the rest of the time be off. i dont wanna go to my garage and start snipping wires and have to crimp them back together if some one knows which wire it would be off the top of their head.

I wouldn't know exactly witch wire would give yoyu that result, because the factory harness switches ground to activate the light, so power would still be needed.
