Over the past few months I have read all of the tire discussions and don't see much about Pirelli Mudwisers so I have a question. I have a set of 26's that came on my Grizzly 700 and I pretty much like everything they do. They have 1000 miles on them and the rears are 1/2 worn and the fronts barely show any wear, so they last really well. I am gong to go with a 28" tire, possibly 12" all around, and was wondering if the MST would do better than the Mudwiser on the very diverse trails I ride on, some gravel and blacktop to get there and back, mostly trail, some rocks, lots of hills, lots of shallow mud, some big holes I hit when I want to play but always have help out. I love the looks and all of the good reviews on the MST but don't want to be disappointed by wear, similar performance for more $$$, etc. I can get the Mudwisers or Swamp Witch set for around $360 shipped, of course the MST is much higher. Any input on this and going 12" on all four is appreciated.

swampwitch or mst hands down. especially when compared to the other tire. i had the witches and they were great. but i am more of a mudder than i thought thats why i got the vamps now. but if i had the money i was going to keep them and get the vamps and swap them out. but ahh well.

Mudwiser is basically a mudlite knockoff.  MST's hands down are better than mudlites.

The Swamp Witches are almost identical to the MSTs so for the price diff I would chose them imo.

I found a set of (4) 26x12x12 mudwisers sitting dusty in a corner at a shop & new right away that they wern't mudlites ( as some people say)  WAY beefier (but 1") lugs, not so thin & pointy, more blocky like a tractor.  also very square contact patch like the MSTs not rounded like the ML's.  very strong feeling/ stiff sidewalls & hard rubber compound- could probably run flat.  I'm hoping like 589's but with more sidewall lugs.    $75 ea

I wasn't excited about 12s on the front so I asked if 10s are availible, they said their supplier had many of them $63 ea. & they'd ordered 4 to match the 12s

I am a little concerned about them fitting on stock rims on my '08 650i, but we'll see next thursday-ish,  I didn't want spacers/ new wheels ect. but I would to get rid of these dunlops.

I could still backout & go with the MSTs, Does anyone know the lug depth on 26" MSTs?

yes everybody bashes them they are completely different than mudlites the lugs are rock solid and they are very long lasting tires the center tread is smaller also allowing them to climb great and sling mud out eaiser all mst tires have 1in tread

My brother had some swamp witches and he bought my old mudlites off of me. He says the lites clean out better than the swamp witches. I know the swamp witches pack fairly quickly as did the lites but he swears the lites are better. He still has the swamp witches and has yet to put them back on his bike so there must be some truth to this, at least in his eyes.

sorry for the hijack,

OK, I got the Mudwisers in 27s (10s front 12s rear stock rims) due to them being 1" short @ 4 psi.  true at 8ish psi.  and they were basically the same price, $315 shipped.
review:

traction is unreal compared to stockers & ride quality is greatly improved due to the fact that I can drop the shock preset to the bottom for articulation and still get none of that rolling feeling at speed.  Maybe because these are stout tires, stiff tread & sidewalls.  Steering is as light or easyier, not what I expected.  The stockers would push hard in corners, these actually turn before full lock!
I did a few high speed runs on asphalt.  initial launch seems a bit slower & It takes longer to get there, but WAY more stable at speed than the stock rubber.  I hope to have a dyna CDI in a few months

I few picts of the size difference.

I run 27x12 MST's all 4, and they run, pull, and handle AWESOME!!!!!!!!! Had them in the mud all weekend ant the deer lease, and they pull great, no problem for climbing steed hills and out of ditches, creeks, and wash outs. Thru mud like it was nouthing, the wide stance gives more stability, and WAY BETTER IN THE RUTS and side lugs are great for extra traction in the mud. They are a well verse tire, and to me by far the best all terrain out there, they are a bit heavy, and do take longer to get to top speed, and knock down top speed a few miles, but performance out weighs the small loss of speed.

I'm not sure about the MST's but I have 26X10 mudwisers on all four courners and I have been really impressed with them. They have done what I needed them to do and then some.
