I'm looking at the same gun right now... I hear the 835 is a good choice. I'm actually used my buddies 835 all last week hunting but never saw anything so i havent shot it. But I do believe thats the one i"m going with too... That or either a Remington 870 super mag.... I've heard good things about it as well...

i got a 835 ulti-mag grand-slam turkey model with the 20" barrel and love it.  haven't got to shoot any turkeys yet but change out the chokes and shoot skeet and shot a doe last year with some 3 1/2"  buckshot.

I have a 835 that I turkey hunt with. Its extremly reliable and it patterns amazingly. My brother has a 835 what he turkey hunts with. His is the same way it patterns awsome. but he wanted a automatic 12 guage So I got him the 935 for christmas. He loves it. Now it only shoots
3"-3 1/2". So if your looking to kill dove and quail and shoot skeet. The 935 is not the right gun. If your turkey hunting and duck hunting or just like shooting 3" shells ive never seen it jam or miss fire. Ive also seen all 3 of these guns dropped in swamps more then once. Which is nasty water and mud. never fails. The first 935's that they made about 3 years ago where junk so watch out if you decide to buy used.

Ditto on the 3 1/2" shells being pretty harsh on the old shoulder...haha.  I've got an 835 that has I don't know how many rounds through it...and I've yet to have any problem with it.  They are a fairly inexpensive gun and will chamber everything...making it a very good all-around 12 gauge.

Mossberg 835 or Remington 870 would be my two choices.  Actually they were.  I have the Mossberg 835 and love it.  It's a very good inexpensive shotgun.  It is several years old and I have not had one problem with it.

I have an 835 ulti mag and will never own antother Mossberg as long as I live.  That gun has jammed up more times than I can count.  My brother also has an 835 and his does the same thing.  I used mine for duck hunting and cleaned it after every use and still junk.  Glad yall had better luck than me with them.  Also have a wingmaster that has sunk several times used as a paddle walking stick and has never missed a beat.  My gun now is an SX3 and has to be one of the best shooting guns I have ever fired.

well i went to buy the Mossberg 835 lastnight and when the salesman handed it to me it felt like he was handing me one of my sons toy guns. I'm not knocking the gun at all cause I know Mossberg makes some good ones but there was just something about it I didnt like. The pump and internals had a good bit of slack in them which i really didnt like and it just didnt feel right in my hands. I then asked to see a Rem 870 and when he handed that to me - the gun just felt alot more solid. It didnt clange/clink when I moved it around. I compared weight and the felt the same but the 870 just felt more solid and sturdy... So I went ahead and bought it. Really pleased with my new Remington 870!!!

AUgrizz said it best...guns are a lot like guitars and women...you'll never really know what works for you until you have them in your hands...   ;)
