its not that big of job to change the chain 8 bolts plus the lines get the motor loose pull the side cover and flywheel and valve cover and your there could actually be done in machine if you remove enough of the seats and stuff i think and no there is no such thing as a timing chain with a master link can he not just retime it from the valve cover and make it work for now and the air pick up point on those should be recalled, they need to be snorkled to keep sand from entering the system and sandblasting your piston, i know of two people who dont ride in deep mud or water that have had rebuilds because of this
