I'm looking at getting a used 800 MAX (the one that is a 2 seater). From the time they came out a couple years ago to the present, what are the main problem areas to keep an eye on? Are there years that should be avoided? How does the visco lock work?  Anyone running these QUADS in snow and if so how are they compared to other quads that don't have visco lock? Anyone using snow tracks with them? I am looking for any info any of you owners can give me so that I don't buy something that has issues with it. Thanks in advance.

the only problem i have had is the water pump seal twice hope its fixed now.visco works when 1 tire loses traction (love it) you dont have to engage anything it kicks right in. if you run any mud or water SNORKEL IT BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE

06 models tended to have a few bugs here and there.  Some were lemons, some had no trouble at all.  Just be cautious when buying the 06 models.

06-07 year models had a soft rear CVT housing which would warp and leak at the shafts behind the cover.  They were updated for 08+ and the 07's were elligible for the update.

Other than that, they haven't changed anything until 09 with the 800R.  The rest of the 09's are still the same old bikes with new look.

They do tend to have water pump trouble if they are ridden in constant mud/water, be sure to get the bike nice and warm to make sure everything is functioning properly before you make a deal.
