Hi all, I've been lurking around the forum for a few day trying to soak up as much info as I can, and figured I'd join in the fun. I got into 4-wheelin about 2 months back, took the plung about 2 weeks ago and got my own (08 500 renegade). I'm kinda kickin myself in the head now, I really thought the 800 was gonna be too much machine, and of course they don't offer a 650, so I went with the 500 (kinda regretting it, think I should just got the 800). Anyway, I'm a mechanic for a living, but i work on deisel engines, hydraulic systems & electrical systems (the big stuff), so I don't have any experience with centrifigal clutches. I saw the clutch install videos and it looks really straight-foreward, I'll have no problems there. Where I will have problems, will be in setting the clutch up. Who all makes clutch kits for the 500 renegades??? I'm looking for a good set-up (spring & weight sizes) to increase the low end & mid??? I don't really care if I lose a little top end, I don't plan on goin 60 through a bog or on the trail. The way I understand it, a heavier primary would up the stall speed and help the low end a little, a lighter secondary would help the low to mid, and lighter weights would also help the low to mid with the possibility of contribituting to more belt slippage if you you go to light on the weights. That make sense??? Or I'm I chasin my tail in circles here??? I think I'm gonna stay pretty close to stock tire size, I mainly do trail riding, dune riding, and hill climbs. I get in the bogs a little, but not to severe, I get muddy enough on this thing (I figured out it's not a clean mans 4-wheeler). Does anyone know of a decent mixture primary/secondary springs and weights that would help me??? Like I said, I don't care if I loose a little top end, I'd like to get more low end and maybe a little more mid out of her. Thanks in advance, sorry about the long post.
