black fleece wal-mart,  MDF only comes in 3/4 at my local lowes, thats what i used, 1 brad gun 1 1/2 nails, 1 staple gun, 2 to three cans of elmers fiberglass mix with the white rectangle cap on top with a tube of hardener in it. two 3" paint brushes, some time and patiences, some spray on bedliner from walmart, get a reall really good soak through on the fiberglass, i didn't do this the first time and it ended up not as strong a i wanted so i redone it,  reach inside and make sure its wet on the inside.  any more questions PM me

Is MDF a must or can I use other types of plywood?

Any type of plywood is fine. Particleboard is usually the cheapest and the easiest to work with. Try to use 3/4". Dont go less than 1/2".

Make 100% sure yoy completely cover the MDF with glass or bed liner coatings where it goes on the rack. If that stuff gets wet its toast.
Also if you do not mix all of the resin at once be careful with the hardener. You may find yourself in a race to slop it on before it sets up in the bowl!   Been there done that.. what a mess!  lol  Live and learn I suppose.

When I get done ill get some pics posted of my finished product, may not look this best but hey its my first time, ill keep at it and see where I get with it
