Some of you may remember me posting a thread a while back about purchasing a good phone and what High Lifter guys had to say was a good one, so I went out and bought the LG Dare from Verizon-

Well, I was oraginally going to buy the Blackberry Storm but I was pressured to buy a phone because my family members car got broken into and her phone was stolen and she didn't have any insurance on it.  She uses her phone everyday and it is a BIG thing to her and she is in some financial problems so I decided to give her my phone since she has Verizon as well.  (You guys probobly remember me posting a thread about that too!)

Well anyway,
I love the phone

It is an awesome design, very neat and sleek.  On the front it has a 3" Full touch screen along with a send button, clear/voice recognition button, and an end button.

On the left side, it has the lock button on the top, the micro sd card below that, followed by the speakerphone button and then the charger port.

On the right side it has the volume up and down buttons, followed by the camera button.

On the back, it has a 3.2 megapixel camera with a flash and the battery door and such

I love how the menu's are designed

You have a favorites button on the homescreen which helps alot.  You can add contacts that you call and text alot such as your house, your good friends and such with the tap of there name and the function you would like to do.

The web browser is phenominal.  It is my first phone with a web browser (i didnt really see the point in it until today)  and I love it, mostly because I can get High Lifter forums

It has a wonderful camera, you press the camera button on the right, tilt the phone and hold it like a camera.  The camera button is the taker/shutter button thing.  Then I believe the ringer up/down buttons work as a zoom but I havent figured how to change the zoom +/- to that yet.  Also, picture quality is awesome.

Speakerphone is probobly an 8.5/10.  It seems very clear, and you can tone it down very low or very loud which is nice.  I hated my old phone (Motorola Razr 2) because even if you put the speakerphone to the lowest, it was still very loud.

Touchscreen is very cool.  I love being able to text with a standard "phone" keyboard (2=a,b,c  3=d,e,f) and flip it sideways and BAM there is a full QWERTY.  You can't type too quick or it doesnt pick all the letters up.  Also, the buttons in the full QWERTY keyboard are a tad too small, may be because of my huge fingers.

Battery Life is real good.  I have had it on all day (from 10am) on an out of the box charge (usually only about half charged) and it hasnt lost any bars, I have been texting and screwing around on it for a while.  There are 4 bars on the battery icon (just another useless fact)

The only two problems I have had with it were:

1) I had to calibrate the touch screen because the guy who set it up at verizon did it VERY inaccuratley. (I guess that wasnt a "problem", but it took me quite a while to figure out what the F was wrong and why it would press a button in the top right when I hit the middle)  Also, the touchscreen takes A LOT of time to get used to.

2) The mobile web had a few issues starting up, I called up customer service, spoke with someone who spoke GOOD english (Halleluia) and had it fixed in no time.

So...

Styling-                 9.5   out of   10
Functionality-         8.0   out of   10
Picture Quality-       9.5   out of   10
Touch Screen-        7.5   out of   10
Keyboards-             7.5   out of   10
Battery Life-           8.5   out of   10
------------------------------------
Overall:                  8.4   out of   10

Just felt the need to review, seems like a lot of phone threads on here lately and I saw this phone being reccomended!

Cheers!

i just noticed that if I go to
Settings&Tools -> Display Options (click it) my phone shuts off and turns back on

anyone know why?
i wonder if it had something to do with the salesman dropping it on the floor while trying to install the battery...

If it does it everytime you are either doing it wrong holding the phone in the wrong position.  To tell you the truth I don't know how it works, but that sounds like user error in some way.  Read up on it.

Thanks for the review think you just picked my new phone out for me.  We have a Verizon Sales Man online

lol, nah.  Im not a verizon salesman, i dont know if I could put up with the customers sometimes....

i found out what I was doing wrong.  I had to do a hard reset to the phone and update the version becasue the salesman didnt do it correctly.
I read up on it on      LG-Dare (dot) com

seriously, if you want an awesome phone with tremendous capabilities almost as good as the Blackberry's- get this phone.

Glad to help!

CHEVYNC20, I would have bought the Storm but I didn't want to for three reasons
1) It is WAY more than my plan is now ($40) more a month, I dont need that
2) I am mostly a txting person, so I went for the Dare becuase it is more of a simpler phone.  Don't get me wrong, it is a very detailed phone, and it has many features.
3) I really didnt want to wait until December 17th for its ESTIMATED SHIP DATE

I never really liked Blackberry's, once I become a multi-millionare I will buy myself a few....hundred
