Will somebody give me the break down of these two bikes. Whats the same? Whats the difference? Which do you prefer?  Feel free to discuss older models also.

The older kodis were pretty much what the big bear 400 is today.  The newer kodis are mainly belt driven autos with a few more ccs.  I'd put my bear against any kodi today, with the exception of my 99 kodi, which would probably whoop it.

basically what has already been said...but i think i could give you a run for your money.  the kodiaks are great.  i love mine.  i have never ridden a new big bear, but i do know that they have a super low first gear.  i personally like the belt drive set-up, but others prefer a direct gear drive.
