I go into the Honda place and want to buy a K&N air filter... and all they can talka bout is how thats a bad idea. They compared it to a normal foam filter and pointed out how so much more dust and dirt can easily get through the K&N rather than a traditional foam filter... they said it would be a matter of time before I was redoing my top end with a K & N ... Tutor me once again guys...  Thanks in advance!

Yeah i went with a Uni too. I did for the reason of if you get water in your airbox(Heaven Forbid) you can ring out that foam filter, and dry it on the trail. You cant do that to the K&N.

Get the UNI filter.  The K&N will give you a little more power, but they don't like to get wet at all.  The UNI will filter better than the K&N as well.

Here is a pic of it installed on my Rincon.

I have used K&N air filters on quads before with real good luck. (my old warrior has well over 10,000 miles on it with a K&N and the motor has never been touched yet)

One of the biggest things with a K&N is that you should only use a K&N recharge kit to service it.

If you service it the way K&N says you wont have any issues.

If you try to treat it like its a paper or foam filter you are going to have filtering problems.

K&N... I bought a 2002 400ex with the dirtyest K&N i have ever seen installed on it. The thing was black! Engine case needed replaced from chain knocking a hole in it. When i took it apart the cylinder looked fine still had crosshatching on it the and carb was clean. I dont buy any of the stories of K&N letting dirt in and ruining engines unless it wasent installed properly.

I dont see how replacing a foam filter with another foam filter is going to get you any performance. That being said i dont have alot of money to burn so i was going to replace my stock filter with a UNI ($18 vs $60) But i found a cheap K&N on ebay and bought it. i have ran K&N filters on jeeps and my past atv's with no problems. Jut make sure you get it clamped on good and clean it regularly. and if you run in alot of dust put a prefilter on it they are cheap.
