I have a 650 2008 Outlander and the poor battery is always jammed up with mud, snow and what have you. My brother has a Suzuki KingQuad 450 and his battery is located under the seat. Very convenient if you ask me whenever you need boosting.

Why the BRP engineers didn't think of that we will never know but anyway, is it possible to relocate the battery under the seat and has anybody done this on their Outlander ?

Thanks

yeah its and easy relocation to the rear box if you want. yourself a favor and cut the terminals off and use soldiered connectors and heat shirk insulation  to attach the extra wire there is enough problems with just loose battery terminals

I wish I could dammit... I have a storage box with aux fuel tanks You know the one with the arm rests and the heated handles. It's behind the passenger seat and it takes up all the space over the rear storage box....

I find it difficult to pull the battery out from under the bike
. Are the cables long enough ?

It seems that when I try to pull the battery out the wires are either too short or the cables are tangled somewhere.

Is there something that I am doing wrong ? I really dont wanna damage anything.

Thanks guys

My buddy did that with his 650 but he left the one down below and ran two bat- because on the winch it works good and was easy to do

Hmmm.....Okay then. Kinda odd place. I guess its because of the way the frame is made that wont let it be mounted under the seat. Guess thats like how on a rincon the battery is under the right rear fenderwell. The airbox is in the way under the seat.

So do the batteries do okay in that location?

they do fine.  i can only think of a few guys on the forums who have relocated the battery.  i don't see a need to move it, since everything besides my snorkels end up under water.  i would imagine that another reason they don't mount it under the seat is because they need room for the big V-twin and low seat for handling

Yeah well my V-force had the battery under the seat. Granted it was a very small thin battery

You're kinda right as long as they work ok But I was looking at the day I will need a boost if the battery dies on me.
IT's impossible the way it's lodged right now, to even try to boost the bike to jump start it. That's why I was thinking of trying to relocate it.
Remember ...those bikes don't have the Pull start handle that some other bikes have.

what are you talking about its impossible?  i've jumped my buddy's renegade a few times, no issues.  just connect the positive cable to the starter relay/solenoid (the cold side, not the hot side), and the ground like normal and you don't have to fool with the battery at all.

That is exactly how I boosted mine also when I left my auxillary lights on. When my stator went out a few months ago this is also how I charged the battery. I unhooked the positive cable from the solenoid and attached the charger to it and to the negative post on the battery.

oh, and if you hook to the wrong side of the relay/solenoid, it'll just turn over.  that's a way to check if the relay/solenoid is bad if its not starting with the key on and a charged battery.
