Suzuki will fallow suit with then new KQ500 and throw in a manual version a year later?  If I recall correctly, the Vinson 500 auto came out a year before the manual did, boy I would love to have one of them new kq500 with IRS and EFI...but my experience with automatic(polaris) leaves me only wanting a 5speed. Thing is I do ALOT of mileage, and those automatics need more servicing then a manual as the miles role on.

I'm sure I'm not the only that feels this way.... Oh and BTW, anyone even seen or tried the new kq 500?

2005 vinsion here well its my fathers, he has put 3000 miles on it and only changes the fluids on it and put 26" mudlights on it. no major problems yet, plus he plows his driveway with it in the winter. his machine is all stock. he wont let me upgrade it as its just fine for him. witch is good. i like the KQ450. didnt know about a 500.

i wish it the vinsion had a locker front diff.

I doubt it but it would be cool! I hate belt driven quads i will not own one. Im glad i found a left over 07 Vinson when i went looking for a new ATV to buy. It was a toss up between it and a Rancher ES and i didn't want shifting problems that come with the ES and i wanted low range.

My friends have owned a few polaris's and had alot of clutch problems. Flipping and shreding belts, wet slipping belts I dont know why the belts caught on with all the ATV manufacturers they suck.

The issue lies in CVT design. Popo, can-am, and kawi, have a direct clutch. Which is like a snow mobile clutch. The primary gets spinning (belt sitting still), until the force of the flyweights, breaks the force of the primary spring (controls stall), and then the clutch slams closed on the belt and gets you moving. Over time this causes glazing, and belt issues. Esspecially if you mod the bike.

However Suzuki, and Yami, have a wet clutch setup. Which there is always constant belt tension. And the cltuching actually happens in the oil. Thus less belt wear with time. I cant slip the belt in my grizz. I have an EPI kit, and 27" 589s. The motor bogs down before the belt slips. I can nearly stall the bike (wet clutch keeps it going). Thats in high. In low I have no issue getting the tires spinning. I dont mind CVT at all. Though, I clutch every bike I own, but also add tires.

As far as belts slipping due to wet. Well, if you wanna go that deep. Snorkel it. Done, good to go.

I got almost 4000 kilometers on my king and have had zero belt issues and have have driven it in all kinds of condition including heavy wet snow.  The belt system has gotten better over the years and I was skeptical at first but now would not go back to manual.  Like stated above if going in deep water gotta snorkle the cvt belt exhaust.  That will probably come standard on bikes in the future as Arctic Cat created the mud pro so there will be more to follow.

cointoss Hey bro, don't sell your current bike waiting for this!  I doubt you even have to get worked up/excited about that happening! IMO! Other than the Vinson, & Cat only a few smaller bore bikes that still shift. I used to be/feel the same way, but won't have a manual shift bike, unless it's a Go-Fast sport bike! LOL!
