The issue lies in CVT design. Popo, can-am, and kawi, have a direct clutch. Which is like a snow mobile clutch. The primary gets spinning (belt sitting still), until the force of the flyweights, breaks the force of the primary spring (controls stall), and then the clutch slams closed on the belt and gets you moving. Over time this causes glazing, and belt issues. Esspecially if you mod the bike. However Suzuki, and Yami, have a wet clutch setup. Which there is always constant belt tension. And the cltuching actually happens in the oil. Thus less belt wear with time. I cant slip the belt in my grizz. I have an EPI kit, and 27" 589s. The motor bogs down before the belt slips. I can nearly stall the bike (wet clutch keeps it going). Thats in high. In low I have no issue getting the tires spinning. I dont mind CVT at all. Though, I clutch every bike I own, but also add tires. As far as belts slipping due to wet. Well, if you wanna go that deep. Snorkel it. Done, good to go.
