Ok I have about decided to build my 09' Trail bike. I think I want a 8inch racked CATVOS T-Cat. What all mods do I need to improve this thing to get it trail ready?

That setup would only lack 1k in motor mods to dominate a pit!! Ok maybe a few hundred more keeping the driverrain in the bike! Travis and mike got real close on their setup last year. Once someone really, really figures them out, they are gonna dominate IMO! Just not bikes that can bolt up the tires and win the races...they require a mod I'd two!

This will not be a pit bike. My pit bike is a stock, little, short 700 Praire. The "cork" as brutewise calls it!

Engie may have more to add to this, but some things for trail readiness will be...
3.6 gears
Pinning/welding the torque lockout (for lack of knowing the exact term) in the rear diff
Clutching - more than likely SpeedWerx would be best bet
Exhaust - once again, SpeedWerx
Radiator relocate
Snorkels of course

Then there are little things that make a difference in trail readiness also IMO such as the '07 and earlier large speedracks, LE bumpers etc. just little things that make it more "comfortable" and "protected" on the trail

Don't know what your use to riding, but you will love the AC on for mudding.  I'm not to sure I would care for the 8" raked for trails though, I would personally go with the CATVOS 4" if/when they offer it for the TRV

I personally would go with a 4" lift for a trail bike. You can't hurt them. I had a big lift, and wouldn't go back, just as a primary trail bike. Plus that raked 8" is like 65" wide in the rear. But if the wow factor is what you're looking for that lift will get everyone's attn. That said, I would do the performance mods that Travis mentioned. I have all those minus the 3.6 gears and mine's a HOSS. I haven't decided if I want 3.6's yet. With the clutching I have it is already geared very low.

I would stay away from the raked suspension for trails.  Just ask Trackn, he has pretty much the bike you're describing and told me he wants to get the regular lift in the back for the trails.

I wouldnt go with the 8" raked that I have on my Tcat for trail riding, the 6" is only back like 2 inches so it is ok on the boots. The 4" to me is the perfect lift for trail riding.

"If you ain't first, your last!!!!!!!!"

DK, I still think the drivetrain will be the biggest problem in trailriding the AC.  I think mod for mod, the Tcat Trv should be the best "mud" trailbike there has been.  AC's have always been dominant in this regard IMO with their only major downfall(and potential for "embarrasment") being a lack of abrupt/skimming power.  With a Tcat TRV, you get the same belt setup(great for trail, crap for racing IMO), the same long a-arms for easy GC, alot of additional length, true lockers, etc.  My only issue here is with the likelihood of grenading diffs, especially on the 30s or 32s...

I decided to keep the lift on after learning that a 10" lift eats rear inner boots just as bad as the 8" rake. DK, you need the 6" rake. The test rider said it has not had any problems with boots, not too wide, and decent GC.
