I'm most likely getting my wife an 08' Rancher 4x4 manual shift for Christmas. I have found it for a reasonable price of 5500 OTD. I'm happy with that and I'm just wondering what if any tips you guys have for that particular bike in black. Do I need to grease something before I ever take it out. Anything and everything I should do.

I think you should be able to beat that price easy with a minimum of shopping around.

If you are getting black and use the bike you wont be happy with the black in a year.

The worst price so far is $5850. So it's good, I'm open to all suggestions. It has to be registered. I plan on waxing the black plastic very well before she ever gets on it.

I got my 05 Foreman 500 4x4 for $5200 OTD, but total came out to $5600 with the tires/wheels. That's too high for a 420 IMO. I know the local dealer is still advertising 08 Foremans for $5300.

Who is your dealer. The Corinth dealer in MS is just to far for $200 and I bet when I talk to them the OTD cost to me will be even narrower.

I don't see why the black would scratch any worse than another color, The wax should do very well to prevent them. It's called Klasse. Maybe scratches would show up better than on another color?

Honda of Russellville or Sunrise Honda in Searcy, both compete and have very close pricing. The one in Russellville tried to add about $400 freight and dock fees, I told him I wouldn't pay them, got up, and he caught up with me as I was walking out the door and agreed to waive them. Don't be afraid to do the same, small profit is better than no profit for them, so they'll work with you.

5500 is actually a really good deal. im a salesman at honda and retail on an 08 is $5400 alone. on a rancher the sales tax comes out to be around $650 so really if you look at it your getting the bike for $4900. and in response to the black scratching issue i think the green and red look worse than black over time. i wouldnt trade my black one for anything

in response to the scratch questions...i havent tried it on mine yet but some customers have told me that they are getting 1000 grit sand paper and getting it smooth and then they say they buff it. like i said i havent tried it yet but ive heard it from several ppl so i guess something works

I know I can walk into the local dealer and pick up an 07 Foreman 500 S 4x4 for ~$5300 OTD and taxes are included. I've not priced the 420, it doesn't appeal to me (use my quad for farming, not play).

4379 is the out the door price at Corinth, $200 diffrence I would check the math on that 5500- 4379=1121. I think i could make a trip for that! I have no idea how much sales tax is ive never bought a new quad

I think Brookhaven Honda, about 45 mins south of jackson has them for around $4500.  go to their site and see.  they are a good place to deal with.

for $5500 you could have something better.

The black scratches bad but still looks good and can be sanded down. Drill a couple more drain holes in the battery compartment and relay compartment, if you don't it takes days to clean them out lol. Other than that I haven't had any probs with mine with the racks underwater (snorkeled). I bought my 08 m/t for 5500 out the door with the extended 3yr warranty. Prolly should have done some shopping but oh well lol.

I would say to not go manual, go ES or At.

Why would I want ES? I don't like the idea of an AT except for the rear disc and irs.
