hahahahaha i told you, it was that dang clutch kit, but anyways i busted mine like 4 weeks ago cause they didnt put my clutch kit in right

I blew my trans, and cracked the whole center section. I accidently threw it in reverse doing 20mph. I was a little drunk at the time. I got lucky and the yamaha shop her local warrated everthing. It would have been over $2000.00 in parts alone.

I found a salvage yard that has everythign I need, so luckily it will be closer to $600 to replace everything, instead of $1200.

When my buddy blew his the gear that blew was $150 then he had to buy some seals so besides taking it apart it wasnt that bad

so if you get a cluch kit there is a chance of blowin the transmission

.....because I am or was about to buy a cluch kit but if theres a chance of me blowin my transmission then I dont think i will be gettin one

ur probly not gonna blow the trannie because u have a 450 and it has different gears also u only have 27" swamplights so it most likely wont break unless there full of water or somethin, the only reason mine blew is cause the 29" laws and the clutchkit

The clutch kit doesn't kill the tranny, the big tires do. I am hoping that EDL's will be less strain than the 29.5s.

Got an update. Today I hefted the motor onto the workbench(this thing is heavier than a v-twin kawasaki motor). Turns out the ROD busted, looks like about 2cm below the wristpin. How weird. Pictures will be posted soon.

That is weird that the rod let go. Any damage to the cylinder?

You can't really tell alot from the pic, other than the fact that your NOT supposed to see the inside of the engine. The rod is laying perpendicular to the piston too

Believe it or not, both the piston and the cylinder are still fine.

That chain runs the water pump. I am hoping that the carnage created the slack but I doubt it. Pretty crappy design if you ask me. The chain looks like it goes on a scale model bicycle, and has as much slack as I would allow a chain driven atv to have.

Piston and cylinder are good it just took out the bottom of the engine case.

Was the engine hydrolocked or anything? Or did it go out while riding?

That chain is pretty small but I can only assume that they figured it didn't need to be too tight to run a water pump. A skipped tooth wouldn't really do any damage long as it didn't come off the sprocket.

The water pump\oil pump chain has more slack than you would think it should. Wow, I have seen the 727 kits do this, but never a stock 660 eat itself like that. I have a used 660 grizzly engine case in great shape. I bought it for s stricker motor, that never built. PM me if you are interested.

dont worry you arnt the only one i broke my rod in my old grizz 2 times and the trans 3 and i lost count on axles lol went out and got me a polaris havent broke anything yet and i got the 27inch tires on my polaris that came off my grizz wont ever buy yamaha again i learned my lesson the hard way . i would fix it and sell it buy a ranger my dad got one he got 28 laws on it and drives harder than i drove my grizz with 27s he hasnt broke on thing yet besides the front bumper lol

gotmuddy i got two guys that ride with me that got rhinos with only 27in tires on them and last weekend lol i ended pulling one home wiht my dads ranger and my dad was on my 800 with the other hitched up to it when it all comes down to it everyone looks at prices when buying one of these machines and when you compare the rhino to the ranger the ranger is like 1000 more and most people go with the cheaper one which is the rhino just because of the price but sit a brand new stock ranger next to the rhino not only do they got the better engine everything is built bigger i learned really fast with my grizzly after a long list of things i had to fixes and weekends not having my bike i spent the extra buck or two and i havnt had a problem yet with the polaris there is only one way to go when it comes to ruvs right now and that is polaris the rhino is not and wont beat it .
