this is kinda a weird question, but i was just thinking about it. Mudstocks coming up this weekend and i was thinking about sleeping in my car. How much gas do you think it would take if i ran my truck all night with the ac on.. Its a 2007 Chevy 5.3 4 door. Just thought id ask, wondering how much cheaper then getting a hotel, or if it was.

ive done it before and used about a 1/4 of a tank.

Man that is a bad idea to do that to a vortec. I know it sounds fine but it is not good to leave that motor running for that long. Plus it aint that comfortable trust been there done that taken the pain medicine.

last time i checked the exhaust on my truck was routed inside the cab.

Doesn't matter if it's not routed inside the cab. You never know if there's an carbon monoxide leak. You can't see it, smell it or taste it but it will kill you. I wouldn't take that chance. I'd sleep in the truck with the motor off or sleep in a tent. Why don't you stretch out in the back of the truck?

cause mosquitoes and heat, and plus i have a dvd player in my truck that would run the battery dead pretty fast if it wasnt running.

haha i have done this once and will never do it again, during turkey season i did this and i couldnt sleep really well and i woke up the next day with a back ache.. on the good side i only used about 3 gallons of diesel and you get to listen to the radio

... but not sure i would do it in a gas truck

ive slept in the bed of my Avalanche with the motor OFF. there's now way id ever do it unless i had a carbon monoxide sensor with me. that stuff is really dangerous. but the avalanche made a real good bed. just laid down the back seat and let down the mid gate. laid down a sleepin bag and snoozed on it. this was during turkey season and it was comfortable with the windows and sunroof cracked.

where you living at man? im in louisiana and its getting into the low 50's at night here, then right back to the high 80's during the day lol...i'd just sleep on the back seat with the windows down and motor off.

hotel dodge will burn about 1/8 a tank of diesel at full ocupancy and if you rode with the guys i do you will sleep in the truck because you can almost hear them snoring over the straight piped cummins

There is nothing like sleeping in a diesel!! haha Some will never know.

We have 100gallon aux tanks in the bed of our work trucks, so it last quite awhile.

a buddy of mine actually got carbon monoxide poisoning just from a fourwheeler at mud stock. he was behind a bike trying to get it unstuck and was breathing real hard and i guess he was back there for a while and passed out. hes all right now, but the past few days he was had to go to the hospital from passing out randomly
