Zillas are really good in the mud IMO.They run about a half inch short, and they have 1.2 inches of tread if I remember correctly.

1.07 inches tall on the 28" which is just a fraction over 1 inch. Depending on size they range from about .85 of an inch to the tallest at 1.20 inches, which is not quite 1 and a quarter inches tall. Some are short some are not. I don't remember which is which. That's what happens when you are old............lol.

The 28" on 14 inch wheels are 1.2"  tread depth while the new 28" on 12" wheels are only 30/32 " so just shy of a inch.

Makes no since other than trying to save a couple pounds since the 12" size has more rubber than a 14" wheel tire.
But the 14" wheels run 3-4 lbs heavier than the 12" wheels so both end about the same weight.

I HAVE 28X14 ZILLAS ON MY RZR AND THEY PULL VERY GOOD FOR THE SIZE THEY ARE IT IS A VERY GOOD SET UP FOR FOR THE AVERAGE JOE WHO WANTS TO BE ABLE TO TRAIL RIDE IN COMFORT AND STILL BE ABLE TO MAKE THROUGH THE MUD HOLES ALONG THE WAY.

i have 28x14" and side-by-side to my 29.5 laws, zillas mite be 3/4" shorter. tread is soft, so hard pack and dirt roads will eat them up fast

How do they compare to Outlaw MST and do 28" MST come on a 14" rim.

Saw the Zillas at a dealership, unmounted.  Let me tell you, after feeling that tire unmounted (extremmely light), the sidewalls are super soft and the treads are also super soft... I'm not considering this tire for my SxS (Ranger XP '09) due to the soft sidewalls and soft treads.  The weight of the SxS will surely predispose this tire to premature wear and also, sidewall puncture.

I keep hearing they wear but my experience is they don't. They are light and have yet to get a flat with my 25" after 900 miles of desert and mountain riding that includes sharp rocks and cactus. They do make a great trail tire and have the ability to do mud and snow also.
I like them so much I decided to get 27" with the deeper tread just for the hunting season coming up.
As for heavier machines I think something like swamp lites may be a better choice but I have had none of the problems with the zillas people seem to be concerned about after just looking at them.

Maybe Maxxis found the perfect compound for this Zilla tire:  Super light, and tough.
I guess I shouldn't presume they would perform poorly, but like I said, the sidewalls are very flexible compared to other 6 ply tires.
An Executioner sitting right beside the Zillas was SO heavy compared to the Zillas. However, they were VERY stiff--- couldn't flex the sidewall standing on it (unmounted)  I'm curious to hear what SxS owners have to say...

I absolutely love my 28 Zillas. Best trail/mud tire i have had on a ATV. Super light and good grip. They also steer very good.

I don't have a SxS but i would think the extra weight of the SxS may be hard on them. They are constructed from light materials for sure.

I just took my brothers zillas off his prowler which work awsome on that. they are 28" on 14" rims. We love the zillas. nice and light, take very little power away. the only reason we took them off is i wanted to try them on my thundercat and we were doing alot of road riding one night so not much sense in tearing them up. we probably have 200-300 miles on them and they still look pretty much new. Highly recomend this tire.

I have 28 inch zillas on my 420, on 14 inch rims, I love them. When it comes time for new tires, im going back with zillas. They ride great, pull really well and so for they seem to be holding up really well, no complaints here on the zilla. Good tire!

I find the sidewalls on the Zillas absorb bumps and rough edges like rocks and logs, sort of like a sponge, rather than bounce off them.Maybe that helps with puncture resistance or something. All I know is I have had no problems at all.

I got my 27" mounted yesterday, very light for such a meaty tire. Mounted on 12" ITP SS 112 series, Rears 27x11x12 33 lbs 4 oz, Fronts 27x9x12 30 lbs 2 oz.
I did the circumference measurement on a rear and divided by pie and they are 26.27" with 5 psi air. So they run 3/4".low with only 5 psi.
I’m not disappointed but if you want a true to height tire Zillas are not the way to go unless you want to run them at 10 psi or so.

I have 27" zillas on my stock rims on the grizz 700, a real good all around tire, rides good on the trails, rides smooth on the road if you keep above 4-5 mph, wear really good. I have 250 miles on mine, and they look almost new. They hook up everywhere. Alot of my trails are rock ridden, and they have no problem with sharp rocks. Perform awesome in water and mud. I would get another set once these wear out for sure.

Would putting 28 in Zillas on 12 rims on a RZR be too much or would I need to put on 14 in wheels

The 14" tires have deeper lugs than the 12" in the 28" tires (1.2" vs 7/8")
The 12" will ride better (absorb more bumps).
The 14" tires will feel alot more "sportier", handle cornering alot better.  The Zillas are kinda soft, so the sidewall isn't that stiff..
Personnally, I would go with the deeper lug, just for the added life of the tire.
It really depends your style of driving:
Sporty : 14"
More Mud: 12"
