Ok....well this weekend my oil change light came on my 06 Honda Foreman 4x4 so its time to change the oil in it. i know how to drain the motor oil and change the oil filter, and im pretty sure i know how to drain the diff. oil i just wanna know when i drain both the front and rear diffs, if thats where the gear oil goes. also is there any other fluids that need to be changed?

If you drain the frt/rear diffs....you will need to add the correct oil to the proper level! Usually to the bottem of the fill hole!

On the rear axle there is a cap on the side for oil level (on the left as you are behind the machine if I recall) and a fill cap on the top.

On the front the filler cap is on the side and the level is to be up to the bottom of that.

Book calls for 80w, but any GL5 rated 75-90 would be fine.

Be careful not to overtighten the oil drain plug, and you probably already know if you put the oil filter in backwards it will block all oil flow to the engine...

Spec for oil is API SG or higher, and JASO MA. 10W-40 works well in most climates. Honda's GN4 would be a good choice.

Takes about 2.5 quarts w/filter change.

ok....well i got the motor oil and oil filter changed but im still a little unsure about the gear oil. I used Valvoline 10W-40 Motorcycle oil which should be fine.

As for the gear oil i went with the Royal Purple 75W-90.

On my rear diff theres a bolt that says "Oil Check Bolt" which is on the left side of the diff near the bottom. do i fill it to the "Oil Check Bolt" on both front and rear?

How do i drain the gear oil thats already in there or do i even need to worry about draining it?

Oh....does anybody know how to get the oil change light off my display?

I forget on turning the service light off... I think you press and hold the odo and reset buttons? Anyway it is in the owners manual.

Royal Purple 75W90 would be fine. There is a drain on the underside of both difs.

On the front dif, there's the big cap on the side. Fill the gear oil up to the bottom of that hole. On the rear axle, you pull that oil check bolt, and the cap on the top. Add oil through the hole on the top until it begins to come out of the check hole.

Also, don't forget to check the valves.
