Just picked this up to "play" with!

Wander how(and where) it might end up.....

The motor has to be torn down/rebuilt from sinking.  Getting started on that today...

Gonna take the tranny apart and "play" a bit with gearing.  I want to replace the high-range gear set with something about 15% higher than the stock low, and also replace the low-range with a set that is about 10% lower...

10% lower low than stock, with a high that is 15% higher than the stock low...Wander why anyone would want to do that?

That's the idea anyway...

Lol...well, that is a Can-Am 800 motor/tranny.  I'm going to regear it to be strictly for mudracing in both "h" and "l".  Still don't know what quad it will actually go into...

preferrably a "salvage" Can-Am for around $2k....that way my knowledge at least goes to work for me...somewhat!

See everyone in Texas in two weeks...looking like that race/ride might be a hinge towards the future of the sport.  I'm definately foreseeing it being the best "racing" in the history of this game, SO Far...

tops secret kawa!!  i have pretty important non related stuff in my head sometimes.

I wish i knew more about rebuilding and fixing my bike,  I have learned certain things over the past couple years in regards to the carborator, clutch, diffs, and such.  But as far as the whole engine component.........No idea.  I do have a question, i know that on one of the forums there was an "interesting" discussion about being able to take a can am and making the motor perform at a 650 level from the 500 status.......(again i may not be wording it correctly)  but what i understood was it had to do with the valves i think???  is there any way to adjust a yamaha 660 up that way?  i know about the big bore kit is that the same thing?

I am not sure i am wording it correctly.  i am just wondering cause i race my bike......i LOVE how my bike rides and was wondering!

DONT LAUGH IF I MESSED IT UP!

What they are doing is essentially the same as a bigbore or stroker kit...They are just interchanging components directly from Can-Am and not from an aftermarket company.  There is a Hauck 765 kit available for your motor...

Lol Kris...

Well, I got the topend torn down this weekend, and as is par for the course, there is NO visible damage to the cylinders/pistons, and all the valves look fine.  I bought this motor because it was "smoking" and replaced under insurance...

Still gonna tear down the bottomend and make sure everything is fine, but it's looking like it might just need a ring/light hone job to be perfect?  I'm kinda scratching my head now.  Gonna replace the gaskets as well just to be sure...

Tough to "diagnose/repair" a motor when you have no means to crank it up!
