I'm thinking of putting on the HL 2" lift on my 07 Outlander. Anyone have one. How do You like it? Are you still Stable Side hilling and Climbing or does it make the 800 more tippy? I love the stability I feel on my Outty and Don't want to sacrifice to much of the "Hill Stability" for height. A Pro / Con list would be awesome

Ps. How many hours should a dealer charge me to install it?

it is hard on the front axles. IMO, i would do a pipe lift in stead. it allows the same size tire to be run and is easier on the axles

why is the hl lift hard on the axels, i have it on mine and no problems so far.

ive heard of lots of people brealing front axles that have the hl lift on it. could be throttle abuse or could be that the hl lift puts to much angle on the axles. just here say and IMO

My dealer told me the HL 2" is good but he thought the pipe lift was a good Idea but needs some refining.
They also told me they have a 2008 Catalog and it didnt show a 2" lift for the outlander 800.

SHILOH can you tell me how many hours a Dealer should charge for intalling a 2"lift?

WHATS the low-down?

DO 2" LIFTS CONTRIBUTE TO AXLE BUSTIN? OR IS IT AGRESSIVE TIRES AND HEAVY THUMBS ONLY?

not much tippier with off-sets, but stiffen up the rear shocks, with the pucks in back and the front end comes up a little easier.

hears my resoning for liking the pipe lift more.

-pipe lift just keeps the shock sag free giving you about 12" of GC

-hl lift get the same result by relocating the shock mount in front and spacers in the rear

-pipe lift uses the shock as a limiting strap and the axle is unable to be used at a angle unapproved by can am(stock specs)

-hl lift allows the axles to be run at a steeper angle than what was designed by the factory(more strain more breakage)

-pipe lift cost 10 dollars

-hl lift cost 100+

-pipe lift is consitant front and rear (spacers are the same size)

-hl lift gives more lift in the front with the brackets than the rear, that uses the short spacers (IMO)

-do what you want but this is how i looked at it, and explain it to my friends that we ended up doing the pipe lifts on thier bikes. either way the HL spring tool saves the day with either lift and is the safest way to work on the shocks.

swamp bomb, is right. i went with the lift, cause i have the hpg shocks and springs, in front and didn't think i 'd get any spacers on those, the springs are pretty strong. but stock springs and shocks have plenty of room for spacers.

When you say "pucks in the back" does this just mean the stiffer shocks?

They are alot better, but none of the spring compressors make me feel safe.

Ive seen people running both the HL2" lift and the pipe lift? is that overkill or is it needed.

I run both on mine and had zero issues until Nats. My front right tire quit pulling while being winched out of a hole, but later started pulling again??????? I guess the axle pulled out just far enough and then popped back in.

I am a new member to this forum and it seems really cool. I am also wanting to put a 2" lift on my 06 Outlander 650, i was going to go with the HL kit but I dont like the sounds of breaking axles. The pipe lift also intrests me. Could anyone tell me where I can find the kit and what is it like to install it. I do alot of extreme muddin and I am wanting to do the snorkel kit too, but I am having troubles finding a kit. If theres anyone that could help me out with this it would be really cool!

Bayou snorkels makes a kit or john cannon shows you step by step how to snorkel it through the middle on you tube.

I have the HL 2in lift on my 08 800 Outlander and have been satisfied with its ride so far. Lonestar Power Sports in Marshall installed it before I took delivery. Price was worked in the deal, but I do know they were frustrated installing it and it was a couple of hours time. Did break a front left axle at Mud Nats last weekend, but not because of lift. Show boating and too much throttle!!!!

I have the 2" lift on my 07 800, anf after about 50 miles of use I broke the front left outer c.v joint, I was spinning in some mudd and it came appart, I figured it was because of the lift, so I took it off before I brought it to my dealer for warranty work, I asked him if it was unusual for this to happen and he told me that almost every 800 he has sold comes in for the left front c.v repair?? so I dont know if the lift did it or if it is just a common problem with the outlander?

My lift kit arrived today! Is the rear just the pipe lift that everyone talks about? Looks like the front is a bracket extension and will not require a spring compression tool. Is that the only lift you guys are doing to rear? Should I do pipe lift on front as well? would that not leave my front higher than my rear?

Where might i get me a spring compressor?

All the rear is is the spacer. Just like the pipe lift, but a little shorter. I have the pipe lift all the way around and the HL lift and it does make the front higher than the rear.

I use a McPhereson strut compressor to do all of my spring work. It attatches with u bolts and is a lot more safe than any of the others I have tried.

with just the pipe lift you will be able to run 30x10 or 30x12 mudlites or comparable size tires with the addition of aftermarket rims

yep thats all i did to this outty and there is no rubbing.

and i also did the pipe lift on a 650 outty and put 30x12 mudlites allaround with out a problem

since 29.5 outlaws aren't even 29.5 tallmore like 28.5-29 they will fit with out problems so will 30x9/11 mudzillas
