ok so im needin a lil help on putting some HID headlights on my 08 420 rancher. i read on here of another guy doing this to the same bike using a 9006 bulb and he had to slightly modify the base of the bulb. i posted a thread in the honda forum but figured i would post another here to see if any of you guys honda riders or not could help me out. the base of the 9006 buld is quiet a bit bigger than the factory 30 watt bulb but i think i can modify it ok. my biggest question is. the 9006 has a large 2 terminal connector and the factory connector is a small 3 terminal connector. what do i need to do to make this work? do i need to cut and splice the wires? is the third wire for my highbeams? any help or info would be great

I would take a stock bulb and bust it, use it's base to make an adaptor that will plug into the quads stock wireing, 1 ballast, ignitor and bulb should draw about 45 watts, the factory cabling should handle that current.

check this out, pg 3, about half way down. they're kits off ebay that the stock plug, and the hid light plugs right into the headlight casing. you just have to know what kind of bulb you have stock and everything will hook up. good write-up....
