The EPS isn't an option for me.. I've rode all my life without power steering and don't feel that it's worth the extra $800. Maybe if I rode one i'd change my mind.

Yes, either switched to 2WD, or AWD.  Front wheels don't kick in until the rears spin a bit in the AWD mode and you need them turning.

i say grizz all the way but that may be cause i have always had them and had great luck with them.  just about every popo i have ever rode with had alot of problems. not saying it was the bikes fault but they just dont seem to hold up to me. the newer ones do seem to do better though, and they ride like a cadilac.

This will likely come down to personal preference.... In other words you'll need to ride them both.

The 4wd. system on the polaris is what concerns me. I would have thought after all these years that they would have put a locking differential on it too. I don't know that I like the idea of the rear tires having to spin before the front tires engage. On some slippery steep hills that might be a problem.. But I've never rode one so I can't speak from experience.

The Polaris does have a locking differential but it's not selectable. Any time your in 4x4 mode, your diff is locked.

i say grizz im no fan for popo unless all you do is water ride otherwise def a grizz but honeslty you should think about a brute more power then both but i dont know if that matters to you and all are about same as reliability pretty much all machines made today are the same just how the owner treats them

I wasn't aware of that.. It doesn't mention anything about it on their site. I mainly do a combination of trail, mud, and hill climbing type of riding. Hill climbing more than anything. I want an atv that won't bog going up a hill and will be able to turn 27" tires without a problem.

I have never ridden a popo but I will say I love my Grizz. Has plenty of power for 28x12's on all four stock, high stock air snorkels, EPS, selectable differential, and a big seller to me over the AC's and Popo's was the weight! They weigh quite a bit less, which makes it easier to get unstuck and you can set it back upright by yourself if it lays over on a trail or something. Also when mine was stock and I would stand it on the back rack to clean it I could chock the back wheels and lift it all the way up fairly easy, it wasn't until I put 27x12 Mud B's and MSA Torks on that I had a hard time doing it...

i think that the kawasaki brute force is cheaper than both of them. and for hill climbing, cant speak from personal experience, but doesnt the brute have more power than the grizz? and the brute is lighter than the popo.

Your right big bear. The brute does have more power than the grizzly but is $400.00 more than the grizz without eps.

I'd say popo.  I trail ride a bunch with mine and after a long day of riding you can't beat the comfort of the popo ride and seat.

Definitely the Polaris 800!

For those worried about the Polaris AWD requiring the rear tires to slip before engaging, check out this video on YouTube.  The amount that is required to slip is so small that you can not even feel it on the bike.  The AWD is an awesome system to have for mud and trail riding.  You can cruise around the swamp or trails all day with the ease of 2wd, but the AWD (locked 4wd) is there the second you need it, and you don't have to do a thing.  No buttons to push.  No going forward/backwards to get the 4x4 to engage.

The Grizz is a nice bike, but between the two options, I'd definitely go wth the Polaris.

I've test rode both machines and am still favorable to the Grizzly.  Not because I own a 660, but because it fit me better.  The SP800 is a tank for sure.  I dislike the front suspension because it is way too soft for me and it dives like crazy.  I also dislike the MacPhearson setup, but that's from a technical standpoint.  The Grizzly is definately no slouch when it comes to suspension and ride, but not as plush as the SP800.

For the most part, all you will find here is tech info between the two.  Like stated earlier, the only real way for you to decide which is better suited for you is to get out there and ride the both of them.

your goin to get a different answer from everyone i had two grizzes and hated them and i love my two fat girls (yes they do need to go on a diet) but my stealth bike with the 27s is awsome it is the best of both worlds but for your riding i like the popo cause it is the best climber you can buy period. but if you want a lambo ride buy the grizz if you want a caddy get the popo you wont be sorry either way you go
