on my 500 i had to go up to a 42 pilot jet the needle was on the 4th knotch and i had a 150dj main in it. But once you get out past two turns on your pilot jet you should go up to the next size pilot jet. with the screw turned out that fr it wil get lazy to rev off the line and if its not out that far i bet its back fireing some..? once you get your pilot jet dialed in you might mess with your needle and main to see if your big enough on them as well ..
