google it.

I believe you need to cook it for 1 minute per pound but I am not sure.

Aint that the truth....3 minutes per pound is correct! It is the best way to eat one imo!

My bad!

a good way to measure how much oil is to fill the pot with the water and the turkey so when you put the oil in you know how much oil to put in to heat up. Because if you heat the oil and drop the turkey in and it over flows then you got a FIRE!! And wear some good thick gloves for dropping the turkey in because you have to do it very slowly and it gets hot and you dont want that hot oil splashing onto your hand.

3 minutes per pound at 350 for a cold bird over 15 pounds. I'm not going to touch one at 1min/pound.

The problem I've had with large birds is you have to cook them so long to get the breasts done the legs and wings are pretty much fried to a crisp and useless. I've had the best luck around 13 pounds or so. I've used the injectable marinades from the store but the one I like the best is my own.

    1 bottle of onion juice
    1 bottle of garlic juice
1 bottle of Italian dressing (strained)
    1/4 cup lemon juice
    small bottle of mustard

mix all ingredients, inject in bird and let sit overnight in fridge.

Some of the turkey fryers come with a thing you put the bird on when you lower it into the oil. That serves two purposes. It's a handy way to get the bird out when it's done and it keeps the bird up off the bottom while it's cooking. If it stays on bottom to long the skin will stick to the bottom of the pot and burn. You need to move it around every now and then to keep it from sticking otherwise.

Follow directions,,,, 3 minutes per pound at 350 in PEANUT OIL ,,,,,, and I do an 18-20 pounder every year without problems,,,, leaves plenty of time to sit around on the driveway drinking beer with bro in law,,,,, ()while the wimmen folk finish up inside),,,, and that stand/holder that the bird rests on is exactly what's needed to keep the smaller pieces from over cooking and the breast from touching the bottom,,,, once it's done, let it sit for 15-25 minutes,,,,, then carve it and try not to sample every piece you cut,,,, best bird you can get.

    game on!!!! lol.

i do 3 to 3.5 per pound @ 375. most fry thermometers have the red line at 375. remember, its gonna keep cookin after you take it out. if you got a 30 qt fryer, youre prolly max at a 30lb bird. ive got a 50qt stainless that ive done 18 -19 lb no problem. do it in the grass or driveway. if you fill the pot up with peanut oil ( its exspensive but the ONLY way to go,IMO) about 5/8 to 3/4, youll be fine. i dont like dunking it in water first, just adds to the amount of boil over. once you do one or two youll get the hang. youll never waste your bird in the oven again!

i also like to fry up some gizzards or fryer legs before the bird. gives ya a lil sumthin to snack on while the big birds fryin!
