I have an 800 Outlander and it has a twin Air  air filter and I put a Penland Exhaust on it and it started running like crap. It also has snorkels on it. I have read on here many times about people running these set up with no problems. Mine is cutting out and not running right. I tried to put the stock air filter on and it became worse. Does this mean more fuel or more air. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

check your plug, if its black = too much fuel, if its white = too much air. Prolly need to rejet if its carbed, or reprogram if its EFI.

Sounds like the bike needs to be tuned for your snorkels and exhaust.  Do you plan on buying a power commander?

when you did the snorkle did you run the gas and tranny vents up to the pod ? and have you been in water over the back rack. And it needs to be tuned as i can assure you your A/F ratio is outa wack.

Sounds like trash in the tank. Im sure you need a tune but that should not be the reason why it is running like this. Also tell us in more detail what it is doing. Running like crap describes a wide range of problems.

The snorkels have been on the bike for over a year with no problem.   The last time I rode it I was in some deep water but nothing I haven't done before. I parked it got a pipe put it on and it started spitting and sputtering. It idles fine, mid range is fine but when I get on it it wants to spit and sputter and has no power on top end. I tried a new air filter (Stock) and it got worse. May have trash in tank didn't think of that. I assumed it was the pipe that caused it. I do want a power commander but can't get one right now. I do have Dobeck that was given to me still in the box. Do not know if that would help. Oh yeah snorkels are 2inch coming out of my box. Like I said it has always ran fine until I put the pipe on but that may just be a coensident. Gas and tranny vents are not ran up!! That may be a problem?

My vote is trash/mud in your gas tank clogging both the sock filter in the tank and the inline fuel filter

We actually had an issue like this at the benefit ride at rattle snake hills awhile back.Low and mid was fine but when u nailed it,it would just fall on its face.

So John is right. It is trash in the tank and the filter outside of the tank.We took that one off cleaned it and it ran fine again.

Thats exactly what it is doing. I got home from work and rode it just to make sure and it started fine. When I backed up and started to go it ran fine. Until I got on it and nothing. I almost went over the handle bars. I will drain it tonight and let yall know tomorrow what happens. Where is that filter at? Is is on the left side of the tank?

If sitting on the bike it is on the right side a lil in fron of the tank.It is a silver colored filter.

Try cleaning that or replacing it first and see what happens. If that fixes the problem then clean the tank for safe measure.

Thanks guys for all the advice. I drained the tank, cleaned out the filter, unstop the vent line and she runs good as new. I appreciate everyone who chimed in.

next step ...... run the tranny/gas tank vent lines up to the pod, and check the little grommet ,that connects the tank vent to the tank, for cracks. Also, check the gas cap for a good seal when it is on the bike. that should take care of any future problems with trash in the fuel system
