Not sure if this has been done before, but I noticed that their are quite a few hunters on here from all over and in different flyways.  I'm mainly concerned with the Mississippi flyway but lets keep each other posted on here on what  and how many you guys are taking in your daily bags.  The LA season started on yesterday and it's not off to a blistering start but it is promising.  We had 4 guns in the timber yesterday and only killed 1 bird.  We had 2 guns today and killed 4 birds.  I know this doesn't sound like a lot but all the die hard duck hunters know that you have days like this.  We are seeing a lot of flight ducks and actually had some work a little better today.  Our holes are grown up so bad that we don't have any open water for them to light in.  We gonna fix that in the morning .  Let's keep this going so maybe we can track birds a little better. I also know that their are other forums out there for this, but I value you guys opinions.

I hunt in louisiana.. we have leases EVERYWERE.. some in kaplan a few in homa, and a few others in other places, .. but we also hunt the basin.. I went down this weekend.. (familys from there.. im in texas) we killed our limit with 5 guys. So we did real good especially for early season. Anyone ever hunt in the Basin????  we dock at the ruez (not sure how to really spell it) and sandy cove landings.. we hunt in PEPS hole and sometimes pecan island..

I guess a lot of the birds have passed us and gone further south.  With any luck they will start to head back north this week bc AR opens this weekend.

Mississippi season start 27th and if I'm in from work I plan to be in the Delta around Belzoni (Top Secret Place! hahaha) and I will let you know the outcome.  Have heard of a lot of birds already holding in those areas, but mainly hollywood smilin jacks and gadwall.  Nothing wrong with some spoonies though!   I hope to make it to my place this weekend to do some scouting and I'll report back.  Don't know if you guys have seen it before, but you can go to Arkansas wildlife management page and see there satellite tracking of 30+ ducks.  As of yesterday there were at least 12+ of these tagged birds in the central Arkansas area which has not been normal this early in the season the past couple years.  Hopefully this will be a promising year as I remember 2004 being.

2004 was a good year in North LA too.  We had plenty of water and Missouri and Arkansas was locked up tight for like two weeks.

Well our season opens the 28th here in Tenessee and I cant freakin wait. We have a 60 day season and I usually get in the high 50s range. I usually take off work for the entire season, I love it that much. But its lookin like a good start here as far as birds being here, especially this early in the year. Good luck to all duck hunters. I will post some pics as soon as I get some, maybe some of yall can show your kills as well.

I'm in Illinois near chicago and the ducks and geese are in the migration mood now. Some of the ponds are getting a thin layer of ice on them at night. All the cold we have been having along with the sleet/snow/rain is really getting the birds movin. Our season here opened October 18 and have killed geese most every weekend. Well good luck to you all and i will keep you updated on this crapy weather

Be nice to have some of that crappy weather a little closer to the south. No bad weather means fewer ducks for us. It seems like the freezing stops somewhere between MO and AR. We need for them to really freeze up to push the ducks down to us. Mild weather and plenty of food above us means they don't have to fly "south for the winter".

Better day today.  We had a mixed bag of teal (1 bluewing), gadwall and 1 wood duck.  2 guns had 9 birds before 6:20.  We had a lot more birds to work  today and they resonded to the calls better.  If HoldMyBeer69 had stayed where he was supposed to we would have had a 2 gun limit before 6:30.  I bet he stays next to me tomorrow. Hey oilfieldbeggar, some of what you say is true about the Delta.  We have a guy that works for us that had a 5k blind there that was shut down by the fed game wardens on Wed (3 days b4 the season opener).  Right now there is a lawsuit in the making because according to regulation as long as the crops have NOT been harvested it isn't considered baiting.  This particular blind had beans that were havested with a combine but not sold bc they were ruined and the field was plowed under 5 times but not just this one was shut down, ALL the blinds in this 6,000 acre plantation were closed.  Trust me these guys were po'ed.  There are now lawyers and congressman involved.  I'll keep you posted on how we do.  Gonna try it again in the morning.

I have a blind on Catahoula Lake in the Boggy Bend Area and  we hunted opening day last Saturday, we had 4 guns in the blind and took 1 bird.....As oilfieldbeggar mentioned there is no growth on the lake due to the hurricanes and storms. Its going to be a very tuff year on Catahoula Lake, the ducks just aren't there. Infact I didn't even see any Coot while hunting last weekend and I normally always see Coot.

Part of this is true , From what I understand (this info. came from my uncle who has a lease on the Delta) the crops were not bought by the govement, its just that some of the fields were not able to be harvested due the hurricanes and there is to much food supply on those certain fields in which the Fed. Government/ Game wardens are not allowing those fields to be hunted over becuase they are considered to be "baited" due to mass amount of food supply. There ARE still open fields on the Delta that are being hunted but those are the fields that did get harvested before hunting season.

my buddy's field was harvested and they still shut them down.  from  what he said they shut down the whole delta.  if it were me I would have hunted and just took the ticket, in this case the regulation is on your side.  my buddy told me this morning that the person that owns this property and leases these blinds out is going to have to refund ALL the blind fees.  I just think this sucks all the way around.  the feds have allowed an act of god to stop a season and cost people lots of money.  all this should have come to the light long before 2 days before duck season.

So how is the hunting on Beouf? is there alot of birds up there right now?....what all permits do you have to have in order to hunt there?, thanks.

And yes blackredneck, all hunters on the Delta are being refunded for there leases and I agree they should have been told they couldn't hunt alot sooner than 2 days before duck season!

Gah man I will never forget last year.. We were hunting one of our leases in kaplan and there were so many teal it was unreal, the problem was the wind was blowing and they were flying past our blind at 100 miles an hour.. we ended up shooting 65 shells and baged 12 birds. Embarrasing day.. I achually was the one who killed 10 of the 12 to.. lol.. I was using a gun that only chambered 2 3/4" shells, (thought mine was in the case i brought and it wasent) and we were taking long shots. I shot only 2 birds when I was shooting that gun.. a few buddys that were hunting down the road already shot there limit and road over to were we were to check how we were doing and I got one of there guns (MOST BADA GUN IVE EVER SHOT.. IT WAS A BERETTA EXTREMA WITH KICKOFF)  which i was shooting 3" and some 3 1/2" and i ended up killing the other 8 in about 20 minutes.
