Well I have roughly 400 miles on my 08 700 H1.  I finally got to test her out last weekend in Astoria IL.  Everything went great, was happy with my Cat's perfomance.  I few mud hole, some steep hills, nothing major.  Well I got her all cleaned up and 3 days later I notice a smal puddle on the floor.  I was hoping it was water that had dripped off, but no luck it was oil and it smelled like diff oil.  This was the first time I really used the 4 wheel lock while riding.  Is this normal to happen after first time use.  The trails I ride around my house do no require 4 wheel lock so it hadn't got a lot of use prior to the ATV park.  Well I have an appointment with a deaLER ON MONDAY, I was curious if anybody had experienced this also.  Here I've been talkin the cat up to all my friends in how no problems like my honda rincon, and first time out, it leaks. I realize you have to pay to play but anyways, is there any thing I should do or look for. I can't really tell where its coming from, but it is definately from under the front diff. Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

Yeah these seals can be a pain in the butt, make sure your dealer puts in the new updated seals and uses plenty of marine grease on them when he installs them. They also need to pull the dust sheilds off the axles so mud does not get behind the and dry then tear the seal the next time you move the quad.

also if the diffs get over filled it can cause them to leak as well. but putting the grease around the seal is important as it helps the seal run cooler and helps the seal stay oiled better as well.

I pulled all my axles out when i got my 650 and greased all my seals and made sure my diffs had the correct amonut of fluid in them. I have pulled the axles out sence and any time i do i re grease the seals and i have yet to have a seal go out.
hope this info helps some

one thing there are many other brands that have diff seal problems as well so dont let anyone tell you different, its not just a cat thing.

So removing the dust shield from the joint helps? I'll be doing that tomorrow!

yup, cat is doing this now. i haven't looked at my fianc'es MudPro but dealers are to do this whenever they do axle warrany work. all the dust shields do is hold in what they are suppose to keep out.

if you took it to a bearing place they could probably look you up a double lip seal. I have used them on outputs on jeep transfercases and never leaked again.

What does the dust shield look like. I was looking at mine the other day and couldnt tell. There was like a metal cup type(if that makes any sense) on the axle right next diff. If that is it im guessing I have to remove the axle to take off the dust shield. Ive had mine for a year and never a leak but it is just bound to happen sooner or later. Thanx

that's it (cup next to the diff) & yes you're gonna have to take out the axle to remove it.

Your lucky you dont have to worry about that. Your belt will slip before you blow a diff with those big 27s.

Hey I was curious on 2 things, What y'all think about 28 mst's on my ride, will it do ok in the mud, i realize it has 3.1's but i read on here that the h1 will turn 29.5 stock, or what headaches could I expect with the bigger tires. Also I read on here that a 700 h1 will do 70 mph+ stock, I have only been able to get 65 maybe 67 out of mine, not to concerned that's plenty fast, just didn't know if something might be wrong.

Thanks

yup, ditto. it's the fan.

as far as top speed, your altitude might be affecting that. i know the higher up you are the thinner the air is. efi won't compensate for that but just make it easy to start.

28" mst's should do pretty good in the mud. even w/our big mud tires we have to get winched out. the mst's will serve you well & shouldn't cause any issues. just be careful not to turn the bars full lock one side w/the 4x4 on. that goes double for diff lock. i personally like the mst's more than mudlites.

i didn't mean it couldn't turn 28's in 4x4. i meant turn the handle bars full turn left or right w/4x4 on. it's something that should b avoided w/any tire in high stress situations.

I knew what you meant with turning the handle bars and not the wheels. I wrote it wrong. Thats good to know though, thanks.  Oh and sweet ride man, saw your posts on the picture thread.
