Who has it?
What do you have?
How much do you pay a month?
How do you like it?

It's time for a switch.  The cable company is pissing me off.

Don't know about their on-line services, I just did it over the phone-this way you talk to someone in person & get exactly what you need.

I have Direct.   I have HD and all.  The picture is really good.  Not sure what package I have, but it is like $110 a month.  I have about 400 channels I think.  No complaints so far and I have had them for a year.  It does go out sometimes during really bad weather.  It may be just mine though.

I'm done with Comcast too!!  Every night I get a still sceen and scrambled picture and lose sound.  The tech came out and said it was the cable box.  I told him it was doing it on both TV's so how could it be the box on one TV.  He replaced the box anyway with no good answer to my question and it's no better.  I'm looking into AT&T which I think is direct tv..  There is supposed to be package for phone, cable and internet for $99/month.  I don't really need the phone and I'm sure that doesn't include HD and some other stuff I need but I'm gonna look into it anyway.

We have Comcast ONLY because there are too many trees around to get satellite at my house (we've had both Dish and DirectTV come out).  We just got a brand new Sony Bravia and HD cable box and we were not pleased with the pciture at all.  We spent night after night on the phone and had to make 3 trips into their office to switch out boxes and HDMI cables.  Finally had a tech comes out and the line coming into our house was cut all up.  They replace it and cleared the picture up and we called explaining how many problems we had and ended up getting a bunch of HD channels, HBO, and a DVR for $40/month.  It will be a good deal for the next 12 months but I think Verizon Fios will be coming out our way soon so we'll be giving that a shot because we are sure sick of Comcast.

We've got Directv and had no problems out of it. Pay a little over $100/month and have most of the movie channels, all local channels... it's like the 2nd or 3rd package on their website. And their customer service is pretty great.

If you have some spare time and like to fiddle with electronics and computers, get dish. It's still hackable. DirecTV = no hack. PM for details.

We just switched from cable to direct tv last Saturday. My cable bill had went to 170+ per month. We got all the channels plus HBO and Starz for like $55 per month for 3 months then you have to pay $10 per movie channel after that. Hooked up in 4 rooms and 2 room dvr.

I do not like it as much as cable, but it is cheaper. Kept my cable internet because even the direct tv guy said it was alot better than dsl.

i have direct and have had no trouble out of it.

On a side note if you have a second property or tailgate alot you can just pay the $5 extra per month and set up another satlite. just dont plug in the phone line.

3 standard recievers, all channels, $115 per month. but only half that once my cousin and i split the bill, he has one of my recievers at his house 100 miles away. never had a problem

I work for DirecTV, I'll PM you my promo (referal) code that should get you $50 off. I install DirecTv and IMO this is how it is..

When it comes to programming and what you see on the TV, it's all personal preference when compaing Dish Network and DirecTv. Except for HD, DirecTV has more HD channels.

Now when comparing equiptment, IMO we (DirecTV) are wayyyy ahead. Dish Networks LNB's, multi-switch's, and receivers are very dated. We are constantly coming out with new things while Dish is falling behind.

I believe over the last 3 months 250,000 Dish Network customers have switched to DirecTV, they say if it stays at this rate there may be a buy-out. This may be something to consider..

I don't get paid any extra for saying good things about DirecTV, I just know what I see everday. Oh, and DirecTV is ALL about customer service, sometimes they make me do some real BS just to make the customer happy!

We have direct TV and we actually got it through Verizon when we had our phone connected at our new house.  I pay less than 100 a month (that includes extra boxes in the bedrooms) but I don't have any extra movie/sports packages.  I figure we watch enough TV without more channels.  If you have Verizon it makes it so easy to have the phone, internet and Direct TV on one bill.  Our Verizon bill runs about 140 a month for all three.  I think its a good deal.

I ended up going with AT&T U-Verse.  I got high speed internet w/ wireless capabilities and cable including 1 box w/ HD and DVR and 1 standard box.  I got free installation and quite a few more channels then I had with Comcast along with a couple movie packages thrown in the deal.  $110 + tax a month.  I was told it is not available in all areas yet but might be worth looking into.  BTW, it is run off of fiber optics instead of satellite.

I am very happy with my DirecTV.  My parents and brother both had Dish and have switched to DirecTV.  Cable is not available where I live out in the sticks.  My closest neighbor is a half mile away.

Direct TV actually did try to buy Echostar (Dish Network) a few years ago, but it was shot down by the FTC (I think that's where it ended).

We have DirecTV, pay about $70.00 a month for it.  Have a ton of channels for the $65.00 package, and pay $5.00 more a month to get Outdoor channel, and a couple more like that.  Never had a customer service issue.

We do have Comcast for our highspeed, and HATE them with a brutal passion like none other.  Unfortunately, it is our only choice right now, as it is the only available company for highspeed in our area.  As soon as Embarq or ANY other company offers to come in our area, we are dropping Comcast like a bad habit.  I don't think I have ever loathed a compnay as much as theirs, well except for maybe Nextel.
