I usually use soy beans, the deer around the house love them, especially when the beans get about 4 inches tall.

We also use a mixture of wheat and ryegrass.

I have been using Buckbusters for the last few years with good results (fertilized with 13-13-13)

In addition I will have a few Brasssica spots this year as well (good for later season after the 1st frost)...

the way whe do it is we cut a big circle about 30 yards across. we leave a few trees stand in the midle and put a tripod there. then around the circle we clear lines about 100 yards long and 5 yards wide evenly all around the circle. this makes a "wheel" and "spokes". in the wheel we dont always plant anything. we plant something different in each spoke. the dear love it because cover is just a leap away.they go from spoke to spoke and you can be ready for them on the other side when they come out

I have 3 acres of soybeans and corn out right now and I am getting the ground ready for BioLogic this fall. I planted the BL Green Patch last winter and it did really well. The deer seemed to like it.

We planted buck forage oats the past couple of years and the deer seem to really come to it.  Last year we took several deer off of our plots.  and the oats come up fast so you can bow hunt the edges.

the guys i work with that put out food plots use a wide mix of stuff on their leases. anything starting with corn, sugar beets, wheat, rye grass, brown top millet, peas, beans, the list goes on. just do a little experimenting with several things and see what does best.

I agree with all of the above but there are several factors you need to consider then pick what's right for you.  First, some stuff grows in shaded areas other stuff has to have 60% sunlight everyday.  Also, what trees and all around you; Pine sucks nutrients out of the ground and starves about anything you plant.  I know it's not feasible for everybody to do soil samples so I recommend you go to your local hardware store and buy some fast-acting lime.  You put it out while you are plantin' and it stays in the soil for about 3 months which in most states get's your plot up and goin' before season and carries you thru season.

Once you figure out where and what's around there are several good choices just refer to the back of the bag.  We plant multiple types of pre-mixed seed blends and it varies on the different locations determined from above.
