ORIGINAL: engie I went with a couple friends! It left me...speechless. I've known I would like TDK for a long time. That's no secret. What was unexpected was my actual response...or lack thereof. At the end of Batman Begins, I had that "heck yeah" feeling of excitement. This movie will not leave you with that feeling. I really don't know how to describe what it left me with. It is profound, complex, and deals in many shades of grey. Winning comes at a cost...and the question at the end of the day is, what was actually gained? This movie shows "right" decisions, and the multilayered effect they have in their wake. Forming an actual opinion is very difficult, if not impossible(at least on one viewing). I do know that from the very first appearance of The Joker, I never once considered the fate of(or even realized) that it was Heath Ledger until the movie was over. That is a testament to the work he did in this movie. The performance deserves every bit of the hype and then some. The play on psychology and morality as well as the idea of mass-anarchy being a few well-planned moments away hits very close to home on so many levels. It's...well...........Let's just say that it provides context/multiple layers/imagery that I expect to be the subject of debate...at least on par with the original Matrix film, just with a much more "edge of your seat" feel throughout the movie, It's 2 and 1/2 hours that feels like 45 minutes. There is never a dead minute in the whole thing. That's both a blessing and a curse IMO. They were presenting very complex themes and situations, but never giving you a chance to process it all. These themes run the full gammit of emotion. At the end, you just sit there stunned, and spent. At the end of the day, it was both the best and probably most "different" movie that I've ever seen. Time will tell us exactly where it's place in history lies. I just know I've never left a theatre so profoundly...moved...The fact that I can't determine exactly how I feel, or what I think about it all, was a testament to just how deep and good the movie is... Alot of the dialog in the trailers hint at themes that are explored/personified later in the movie...You don't realize just how much foreshadowing there is until you've seen it all... CREATIVE SPELLING IS NOT ALLOWED son! lol so it was good Anyone else?
