I cracked my front diff case on my Rancher. I cracked it at the front where the diff connects to the frame in the the front. It dont leak fluids but it now has alot of play. I am trying to find a way to fix it without buying the whole new case. I dont understand how this happened but any suggestions and any suggestions on a good cheap fix.

welding cast aluminum is tricky but completely do-able.  just look around and ask to see a qualfied welding procedure accompanied with a pqr (procedure qualification report) on the individual doing the welding.  any job shop that does code work will have these docs. available.

The solution to this issue is replacement, not repair.  However, the reprocussions of having this happen a second time are no worse than the first time...  Especially after the first time when the metal is fresh, you can delay the inevitable somewhat.  If the first weldor is very well practiced at his art, the second weld may even have some cost effectiveness.  The cumulative number of effective repairs however pretty much stops there.

that would be no where near tough enough for a mount support. a good welder can fix it good or can check ebay, might get a used one pretty cheap.

JB weld is good stuff SOMETIMES, but it is not adequate for a structural repair.
