Thinking of running up to Colorado next summer to ride in the national forest, around the South Fork area(South Central CO.). Just wondering if anyone on here has ever traveled that way and if they might steer me on some do's and dont's. I am wanting to find some very scenic trails to relax and ride with the family. I am open to any information ya'll have to share, thanks.......

The best place to get information is the Ranger station at that NF. I do know that Colorado quit accepting Texas HOV stickers, so you'll have to buy those, $25 I think.

We rode some trails in the Buena Vista area Sept. of 2006 and had a really good time. An early snow made a beautiful contrast to the gold of the aspens.

Do:
Rejet your bikes. When you get over 12K feet you'll need all the hp your bikes can put out. If you don't, take extra plugs and gas.
Take clothes for warm, cold and wet weather. Things can change quickly at altitude.
Drink plenty of water. You can dehydrate fast at altitude.
Use a sunscreen.
Some high mountain trails are not much wider than you bike. Passing someone going the other way can be a challenge.
Have a great time!
