I recently snorkeled my '07 Eiger and rejetted and can't seem to get the mixture quite right. I've currently got it with a 122DJ and the idle screw is ~2-2.25 turns out. Until it's real warm, under any acceleration, it just spits and sputters and will not even move because it's choking so bad. I have to feather the gas real good in order to get her moving, once it's moving or warm, it runs real well. Do I need to go another jet higher? I've got 1.5" spa hose all the way from the air box to the front plastics and then I've got 2" PVC coming out the top. It seems like it's getting too much air for the amount of fuel but just wanted some others opinions. Thanks!

PS. I'm about 1000 ft above sea level.

sounds like ur getting way to much air! u could just keep playing with the jets (adding more fuel to the mix) or u could take and make a reducer and play with the fuel mixture screw

turn the fuel mixture 3 turns out. You might need a bigger pilot jet. You will get more performance IMO playing the carb settings then just plugging it up

So I am out messing with my jets trying to get this running right and I thought I'd take out the plug and see what it looks like. Well low and behold, I can't get the plug out. It's starts loosening for a 1/4 turn then it's tight as can be. WTH!!!!!

Sounds like the last person to mess with your plug cross threaded it.

Yeah I figured that.

I've been out messing with the jets. I've got it running decently with a 114DJ. I went lower and it seems to be running better. If I choke it, it will idle higher like a choke should work. Before when I had the higher jets in and I choked it, it would just die right away. Now it's a little hesitant at take off but once it gets past that point, it will run smooth. Should I turn out the idle screw a little more? It's at 2.5 turns now.

yup, turn it out to 3. The idea is that when your idleing, thats when you adjust the fuel screw

I 've got the idle screw turned 3 turns out. It idles fine. Now if I give it full throttle from a standstill, it just won't move and chokes out. If I ease into the throttle and get moving, it will run great.

This is such a PAIN....

Thanks for the help though.

Edit: I put some duct tape over the snorkels and it runs MUCH better now. So that means I really need to go up in jet then if restricting air flow makes it run better. The biggest in my kit is 124 and it seems like that's not going to be enough. I hate trial and error. lol.

this is not a lie!!

i put a HMF on and made the plug hole at the top of my snorkel smaller.  it had more pep, but not near as much as when i started tuning with the jets.

i hesitated to jet mine, now that i've jetted it, the wifes seems SSSOOO slugish.

when i tuned mine, i started with one circuit at a time, IDLE, MID, and WIDE OPEN THROTTLE.  when you start it (with a new plug) let it sit there and idle for a couple min, kill it, check the plug, mine started to turn black with in a min or 2, so i leaned up the idle screw till i got it pretty close.  took off down the road, 1/4-1/2 throttle sputtered and puts till i hit the WIDE OPEN circuit.  so i started shipping my needle till i got it where it wouldn't bog at mid throttle, and ran it down the road at 1/4-1/2 throttle, did a plug check to make sure it was getting close, then i went to WIDE OPEN, ran it wide open, chopped the plug (plug check), and went from there.

since all the drama of tuning, i've fine tuned out on the trails, had to add another washer to the needle, and turned the idle screw down a touch more, and it's kickin and screeming right now.  pluss with the cool air it runs crisper too.

also i'm not sure on the eigers, but the vinson likes a 2" snorkel MUCH MORE than a 1.5", easier to tune and produces more power.

let us know what you come up with, and how it turns out!

I think I am going to run to the Suzuki dealer tomorrow which is right near my work and see if I can get a size 42 pilot jet. That's the only place where I am having a problem is from idle to 1/4 throttle. Once I get past there it runs great. And I'm also slightly backfiring on let off and after I shut it off, it gives a small pop.

well were do i start ..... i ordered alot of jets and still aint got the dang thing going right!!! i put a 135 in just for giggles. run pretty good with it all hooked up but if i like power braked it in soft dirt you could listen to it and tell it was kinda bogging so i pulled the pipes of and just let it get air from the open inlet in the airbox did better but still just alittle to bis so i droped to a 128 just figured the 130 would still beto big you know. then here  i go with the burping and farting again so figuredd i could just mess with the screw alittle and make it work . how about no! i know the main only picks up at wide open and all and then all the oother circuits are working together to make it just right but the sunshine was gone and the wifey just fried a big plate of shrimp so i figured to call it a day. im woundering if i should put the 38 pilot back in and the 135 main. correct me if i am wrong mudd lol but by doing that wouldnt it make the total WOT gas alittle leaner and take the bogg out or what im stumped!!! mind you i dont have the needle shimmed or anything like that but i just dont know. i got from a 125 to a 135 main jet assortment and i guess i just dont know how to use them.lol please help if i put the choke on i think it just pulls vacuum and alittle more gas and is kinda flooding past the 0 to 1/4 curcuit. please please help. coolcloo hold up on the pilot that might not be right.

Trick is to do one circuit at a time and do plug reading for each circuit. Also, if it runs better with choke, you need to richen it up, if it doesn't, you need to lean it up.... Oh, and if she backfires when you let off the throttle, you need to richen the pilot, or turn out the fuel screw.

didn't you say you enlarged the factory intake inlet??  or did you run a snork??

the pilot jet is only for idle to 1/4, the needle controls 1/4-1/2, and then the main is your WIDE open throttle

think of your carb as a tripple barrel carb,

-1st barrel is when you start, sitting there idling, and when you just start to give it gas up to 1/4 throttle
-2nd barrel is your needle (pilot circuit is out of the pic), this needs to be raised up out of its seat (shimmed or adjusted with the DJ adjustable needle), the more washers/shimms you add the richer you get. you'll need to make up for larger intake (more air) with more fuel
-3rd barrel is your main (all other circuits are out of the pic), once you reach 1/2 throttle your main jet is your fuel source

tune one circuit at a time.  it will take a few more times tearing into it, but if you don't try and tune them all at once, you'll pull less hair out.

go to the "kit" section, and it will have the style you need, find the suzuki catagory, and then vinson.

if your going to order from jets r us.........make ONE BIG order.  if you order the pilot, and then the mains you're going to double up on shipping.  i'd recomend ordering AT least your pilot and some mains.  if you have a snorkel (or at least a 2" one), you'll need the #38 pilot.  if you get a hand full of mains it will cover you for jetting WITH OUT a pipe, and WITH a pipe.

i have not done it yet, but i'm planing on jetting my wifes bike, and she woun't have a pipe (she don't want the added noise).  so when i ordered my jets, i ordered 2 pilots, 6 mains, and 2 sets of hex head bowl screws for less than $50.  i'd recomend getting the bowl screws too.  i stripped the head on 2 of mine trying to get them out.  it's like they put them in there with a freakin impact wrench, lol!

impact driver or needle nose vice grips

i already have spare screws laying around.  Mine is jetted pretty on right now but it is backfiring when i let off.... not a huge concern but you know i want it to run perfect, especially since the woman is riding the king... i want another 750 now... they are that fun!

instead of ordering jets try messing with your air/fuel screw. have you tried turning it up (richer) any?

what jets do you have for your set up, and did you have to adjust your needle at all?

I thought the Eiger came stock with a 38 pilot jet? I just ordered a 42 because I thought it was 38 stock...
