2006 Honda foreman 500 S
I snorkeled my bike satarday and went riding sunday. I rode about 4 hrs going in and out of fairly deep holes but then we were getting ready to leave and i was going to try one more deep hole before we left. And i got dead in the middle. snorkel was not under and i go to hit the gas to pop up the front end and it just went dead. No sputter nothing just dead. There was a guy there who said something about a line that goes from the crankcase into the air box. that his buddy had to snorkel. It was a metal line. I dont know it went dead but not a drop of water in the air box and no water in the carb. I am at a loss for words anyone have any suggestions

water in the crankcase?

You have several secondary lines to water proof besides the airbox,,,, crankcase, carb vent, carb drain, diffs, brakes, etc,,,,,,,

You need to reroute are plug your carb overflow the one way valve did not work. you also need to vent your crankcase, 2 carb vents, rear brake, fan, and both diffs.

Yea that one way valve on the bottom of the carb is no gaurantee.  They go bad all the time.

It almost sounds like something electrical.  Did you grease all your connections?  Seems like it would have been a sputter or something if water had gotten into the engine. JMO

One other possiblity is water getting in through where the throttle cable is hooked.  That plastic cover on the side of the carb will leak sometimes.  Best thing to do is plug off the over flow drain in the bottom of the carb, die electric grease all of your electrical connections including the plug wire and spray the carb really good with plastic spray.

If the water gets in the boot to the tip of the spark plug it'll die just like you turned the key off.  Take the boot off and fill it up with die electric grease.

how do you assume water seeped into the crankcase. the oil was brand new and still looks brand new

If water got into the crankcase you would see it in your oil.  I don't think that's your problem.

Yea, just unplug it from the spark plug and fill it up with die electric grease.  It wouldn't be a bad idea to do all of your electrical plug ins and spray the carb down with plastic spray.

the spark plug

Exactly, you need to scilicone the boot wire for the plug and dielectic grease the plug, ifyou dont have water in the box or milky oil, that is what is wrong
