Nope. I have extended Warranty on mine and I ain't touching it til it ends. Only thing I do is fluid changes.

I did it. You need a bigger pilot jet for it to be effective.

The "slide mod" on the carb should not require any jetting. All it does is allow the slide to open faster thus giving it better throttle responce, it will make it have more "snap" off the line.
It does not increase HP either just increases throttle responce. I have also been clipping about 4 coils off the vacuum slide spring to help alittle more with the responce and it does work well. this is a Free mod that is worth the time to do.
I have done this to allmost a dozen quads and not one problem from it.

I was speaking from personal experience GWC. When I did it I really didnt notice any extra jump off the line. Maybe I'm messed up somewhere, but I dont think so. Also, are you clipping the DJ spring or the stock spring?

the stock spring, DJ does not send a new spring in the AC kits

guess they think it does not need it..? just like there kits dont come with big enough jets if your snorkeled and have a aftermarket muffler..

shoot on the 500 kit they did not not even tell me to drill the slide out but the 650 kit they do..lol its the same carb so they both should need it, well i think anyway..lol ]

The needle and the spring were just about the only things I could use out of my kit. I'm on the 128 jet right now which is the biggest jet that comes in the kit. If I'd have went with 2" snorkel the kit wouldnt have helped me at all.

the AC kit goes up to a 146 so if a guy wants bigger jets for his Vinson then they would be better off buying the AC kit , it is the same carb correct 36mm Kehin ..??

i went with stock brand (keihin) jets. got more jets and cheaper than the DJ kits. i just used washers to "shim" the needle instead of having an adjustable one with a cute little C-clip

.

i can't tell you if the slide mod worked or now, lol, i did a pipe / jet / filter / slide mod all at one time. i read on here than the only time a new pilot jet is needed is when you install an after market filter and snorkel.

the DJ kits cost more then just buying new jets but that needle you get is FAR better then your stock needle jet.

i think you can order JUST the needle from them for about $20 (someone will correct me on that one)!! i've heard they are actually shorter than the stock needles as well, is that true??

I dont think they're any shorter, but the flow characteristics are much better with the DJ needle. It's more finely tappered.

Mudd I was just kiddin about the wife thing. No offense was intended.

heck you ain't lyin, lol she already said she ain't following me NO WHERE!!

belive it or not i bought a quiet core $18 at a local shop, put it in, fired it up.........YANKED that $18 piece of crap stainless steal baffel right the helz out.........it sounded like CRAP, every one on here that warned me about it, i'll be the first to admit YOU WERE RIGHT!!! wide open its REALLYYY REALLLLYYY loud when you gas on it, sounds great at idle (i think) even the wife thinks it's ok........gap it open and she cringes almost as bad as i do, lol!!

i guess till i find me an LRD i'm gonna run it wide open.........fellow riders beware, lol!! all my friends have said i get to bring up the tail end, cuz no one wants to ride behind me, hahaha!

hhhmmm more tapper huh, we have a lathe at work, haha

All seriousness now, I dont really think the HMF's are that loud, I was riding with a AC 500 with an HMF and I didnt think it was that bad.
