Hey guys, lookin for some new shoes for the grizz. I think i want the bighorns, but was wondering how they really would be in the occaisional mud. I mostly trail ride . I want somthing that wears like iron and will hold up in the rocks. I also was thinking about mudlite xtrs and terra crosses but am not sure about the wear and puncture resitance compared to the Horns. What do you think?

My vote would be the MSTs or the XTRs. I think they would be perfect for what you are trying to do. Stay away from the terra crosses as they are horrible in mud. IMHO

bf goodrich makes a tire for a 14" rim.. that would be the best "all terrain".. that is it's name..

If Trailing is most of your riding ..then  the Horns are the way to go...been there done that...I own or have owned Horns, MST's, XTR's and Swamplites...and by FAR the best trail tire is the Bighorn...

Try going 70 mph on asphalt with XTR's and see how much Wobble you have... the horns have NO WOBBLE

the mst is most def NOT a all terrain tire...i have had them and they are def a aggressive mud tire still. i personally like the bighorns,my friend has xtrs and they ride jus as bad as my msts did

I ride in conditions very similar to what you're describing.  I had 26x9x12 Horns all around on my 06 Brute and they were awesome for high speed trail riding at Forest Hill.  But the mud performance wasn't that great.  So I changed the back out to 26x12x12 and mud performance is now better but still no where near a dedicated mud tire.  I lost a little zip on the trails but it was a worthwile trade-off.  It's not as bad to ride behind me in the sand now.  :)

I really can't speak to the MSTs or XTRs.  But I can assure you that the Horns are great for rock, trail and even asphalt.
