Was riding with some friends last night, and my friend was riding a wheelie  about 30 mph and hit a rut,  it threw him off his 800 can am and then the bike proceeded to flip once and roll 3 times.  It knocked the front left tire off the rim. bent/buckled the frame bout a foot behind the front differential.  knocked the left front a arm back about 6 inches. and the tire is laying out about 3 inches from vertical and rubbing the plastic.  the back right rack is bent down about 6 inches.  needless to say she was still runnning when she landed up right after three flips.  but why does can am brag so much about the frame.  the wreck sounds pretty bad and obviously was if it bent the frame but it didnt really look that bad.  oh, and the spindle and a hairline crack in it. just thouhgt id share this terrible news.  the bike is 3 months old with 350 miles on it.  and pretty much trashed.  i deffinitly thought the frames on can am was suppose to be superior to all else.   word of advice,  be carefull riding wheelies, and wear a helmet.  other wise your baby might end up in the garage for a LONG time.

A buddy of mine did the same thing on his BF750 and it bent his frame along with other assorted carnage.

Another buddy was riding with some guys and one of them hit a stump and bent the frame on his Honda Foreman.

They will all bend if subjected to enough force.

I have a friend that hit the back of a flatbed semi-trailer at 5 mph and did over $8k in damage to his new Chevy Z-71 pickup. It didn't bend his frame though.

The a-arms can be replaced. The frame can be fixed. Its nothing more then straightning a square tube. Sure it is going to have to be welded on and metal added but it will be alot less then the $1500 it is going to cost at a dealer.

Did he have skids?

I cant see anything holding up to the forces of even a slow impact.  Think about it people!!  Quad (730-740) filled up and ready to ride plus rider 200 average and gear another 60 or so.  These are fairly low numbers and thats 1000 pounds.  Anything will bend with that kind of weight hitting a tire or a frame.  Its a crappy deal what happened but thats why insurance is there.  Unfortunatly that increases the rates for everyone but it will cover your "back end" if you do screw up.

You can get insurance to cover whatever you want. I totalled a 06 Brute out and it was replaced by the insurance co with an 07 model.

i just got a quote from state farm for my outy, since i'm switching from progressive, and it was about $90 for 6 months.  $15 per month to know that if i crash it it'll cost a grand and i'll have a new atv   over 5 years that is only $900 worth of insurance payments.  if you have an atv that is worth more than a few grand, why not get insurance?

OMG...  this prolly would be "terrible news" if you would have just said... " he was rideing a wheelie and when he landed the frame bent"... but no, this guy crashed this thing with a flip and 3 rollovers at 30mph doing a wheelie!! HELLO!!!! those types of impacts will tear anything up!! stop blameing the frame and blame the weak spot between the seat and the handlebars...

Hondas are bulletproof, Rolled mine, hit trees, and other stupid things and the only thing wrong is a front bumped that is pushed in about an inch! Hondas take a beating and last forever.

i would think that all frames would bend with an impact like that.  but it would be different if the can am dealer would not have told us, that it was designed to be dropped off a 20 ft cliff and allow every thing else to break before the frame would bend.  can you say bold face lie.  he  guaranteed us that the frame would never bend

i was riding and had my stock tires on. and i was on the top of the middle of a truck rut. and in one spot the middle of the 2 ruts got too narrow for my tires to stay on and my tires slipped down enough to bottom out on frame. just for a second i wasnt even going to check it but i remember all of yal talking about how these frames are so i did and it had a dent in it its not bad but it did not take much
