I have an 2005 Polaris Ranger 500 4x4 (carb). I want to replace the drive belt and have read that there's a better one that stock. What is the part number and where to go for the best deal?

Thanks,

Tom

nope, no better belt than stock.  Other belts will usually either be weaker, won't fit right, or will eat up the clutches.  Stick with stock for the belt.

Big T is correct on this. The aftermarket belts are no were near as good as the polaris belts.   The compound of the aftermarket belts causes them to slip which raises CVT temps greatly and takes away usuable power.  This slippage also tear up the primary clutches in a quick hurry.

I agree to go back factory as well.   I put 2000 miles on my 700 before I changed the belt with 29.5s and a 6 inch lift.

The only thing that I would do is put a 700 belt on your 500 - they are made a little wider and more heavy duty it seems.  It made my 500 feel like it had more pick up with it.

If your machine does not have EBS then don't use an ebs belt on it.   Use only the oem part number that was designed for the machine.

Put a RZR belt on it, mine works real good. The belt takes about 8 hours to breakin (hard to shift) but then it works great.
