I've got an 04 foreman with no power mods, but it does have a 2"lift, winch, racks, etc.  It currently has c-4's and 25x10x12 and 25x12.5x12 Kenda Bearclaws that have been great tires and have held up really well, but I'd like to get something bigger that would do better in the mud.  I was thinking 27" tires and somewhat aggressive.  I don't go looking for mud, but during duck season in the MS Delta I encounter quite a bit of nasty gumbo.  The rest of the year, I'm climbing hills and traversing normal terrain chasing deer and turkeys and occassionaly end up in cypress swamps and sandy creeks.  That being said, I don't want to tear up my roads or grass fields too bad either.  Are Vamps a good option or should I keep looking at Zillas and MSTs?

man vamps would be my last choice! You were on the right track with the MSTs and zillas. The vamps are a bit more than your looking for IMO.

IMO, I would go with the either the Zilla's, or MSTs. The vamps will be too much tire for what you are wanting to do with them.

Another choice could be the Mud Bugs also, but they might tear up your roads and trails if you have to turn sharp.

Vamps ride SMOOTH on the trails.

for the price I paid for my used ones, they are absolutely awesome.

my next tires on a different bike will probably be Vamps.

cant speak for the MSTs or Zillas tho.

Well, I've heard about the Vamps smooth ride and I do encounter (not go looking for) some pretty nasty stuff so I thought they might be a good choice.  Plus I'd like a rear tire that's at least 12 inches wide.  I"d like to go with at least 27", but I've also contemplated the Mud Bug radials, but haven't heard much about them.  Does anyone have any experience with them?

Mud bug radials are just a longer lasting Mud bug, with a little less traction.  I would think they could do an OK job.  I've seen them equipped on Mules that are predominantly work and trail vehicles.

They might, but it shouldn't tear them up too bad, but to me they are close to the Mud Bugs (non radial) IMO.

I have Mud Bugs on my Rancher and I like them for what I use the bike for which is mainly hunting, if you turn them really sharp and gas on it they will make some ruts, but it is not that bad.

vamps for sure. you cant ever have too much tire. and they wont tear anything up worse than any other tire that has tread on it unless you spin out and cut doughnuts everywhere. they wear great also and are next to laws in the mud.

If you get the Vamps , you will be very impressed with their mudding abilities.
Another tire to consider is the 27" Bi/Tri combo.
they are way up high on the list for mudding, wear like iron , ride smooth,& imo look awesome

My farther inlaw is a serous hunter & has vamps on his 99 450 foreman & he would not go with any other tire. Can pull a moose calf out of the bush with no problem. He's had them for years & has no complaints.  His vamps were the reason I got mine, so when we go hunting together I can at least follow him

I'll second the Bi/Tri suggestion, they are nearly as good as Laws, Vamps, and Backs in the mud and will ride incredibly smooth, last forever and they don't disturb the ground that much unless you are spinning the tires everywhere.

If you think they are cheesy then you obviously have never riden on a set of them! They are great tires on trails and outstanding in the mud, not good in the sand though.

those who mock havent rode a set of these puppies.  get your swamplites and ill bring the vamps. and lets go MUD. you will sell your tires after that ride pal.

vamps are animals and they leave a trail of whre theyve been. so id go with my favorite everything but pure mud tire the MSTs or the swampwicthes. enough said no other will compare. i owned the witches and was over impressed everywhere except the mud. thats the only reeason i dont own them. im like a 90% mudder so the vamps suit that better.
maybe a maxxis mudbug but the tread longevity is lacking. (based on customer report no personal exp.)

Yea you can turn them, they will slow the bike down a little bit but you should be able to turn them without much of a problem. When Sand Tires Unlimited was designing those tires they were using Honda Foreman 450s as test mules. I would get a pipe and jet kit to gain power back, you could get a HMF Swamp series that isn't much louder then stock at idle and has a nice deep tone to it under throttle. You are going to lose a little bit of power with any 27 not just the Bi/Tris.
