Anyone ever added grease fitting to the A-Arms? I seen it done to the Rincons on www.atv-guru.com
and figured it would extend the life on my bushings. I'm told the Brutes eat up A-Arm bushings especially with a lift and big tires? What do Yall think?

i had to replace mine. i used epi bushings and they seem to be holding up good. i thought about adding grease fittings but i was scared it might weaken the a-arms.

Oh yea! where do I get these EPI bushing? And I don't think a 1/4" hole would weaken the A-Arms?

i don't know if it would weaken it or not, it probably wouldn't. my epi bushings have held up good so far. i only have about 300 miles on them though. i have seen stock ones wore out with 400 miles on them. just google erlandson performance and it'll give ya the site.

I did fittings on the uppers on the last bearing change. No worries on a hole, your fitting will keep the arm solid. Pic's if you need them, but you just need to go in past the bearing in the front & make sure you clean out all the metal shavings before reassembly.

Well I added them tonight but I ran into a problem. I bought grease fittings that say 1/4" x 28 and I bought a tap that is 1/4" x 28. I drilled a hole with a 1/4 Drill bit and tapped it out but the dang 1/4" fitting was to small and almost fell through the hole? I went to Auto Zone and got an assortment of sizes and the 1/8" are bigger than the 1/4" so I used the 1/8" to fill the 1/4" hole. I triple check myself and was not drinking! Anyone know how they size a grease fitting? Because I know a 1/4" is larger than a 1/8" at least where I went to school? I'm confused I thought the 1/4" was the thread size and the 28 was the thread pitch?

I have put 7 grease fittings in mine 1 on each upper front  a-arms, what I found is when you pump grease in them it will start to push the seal out on one end, their is a gap between the seal and the mount, (a washer of the correct size could take care of that) however does work.
I put a fitting in the top and bottom of the rear hub bushings, I figured the hubs would brake? i,m running 27 laws and they have held up so far. and I put one in the foot brake, so far all has worked out ok, I do have to pull the rear tires to grease the rear hub bushings tho.

Butch,
1/4 x 28 tap uses a #3 bit. It should be stamped right on the tap for you. You can go up to a larger fitting, but check your clearance on the spacer once you thread it in, you might need to grind a little off the base of the fitting.

Thanks john, but what size is a #3? All I know in drill bits is 1/4, 3/8 ect? And can you explain to me why a 1/8 x 28 is larger than a 1/4 x 28?

anytime butch

as far as the drill bits there are drill bit sets that have numbered drill bits, I have a large set that has the normal 1/8 -1/4 - 3/8 - and so on, and also has numbered drill bits as well.
