Just a heads up to all you Can-Am owners out there. I have been doing business with the Gander Mountain in Houston off Hwy 290 for a little while now. These guys are great to deal with. It is rare that you find a dealer that understands the needs of the mud riders and these guys definately do. They have CATVOS lifted bikes, outlaws and HMF's all over the place on the showroom floor. They will also look out for you on your warranty work. I think I may have found the Steel Horses of the Can-Am dealers. If you need anything I definately recommend giving them a shout. Eric (greenhead) works there and can help you out with any questions you have. I have delt with him personally and can tell you he will be more than happy to talk to you about anything and will go out of his way to help you in any way he can.

Most people on here know greenhead and he is a great guy.  As a matter of fact, thats how i met him.  Last year at the nats i was having some issues with my steering and he helped me put a new steering bearing in and even gave me the bearing.  Good guy!

i wish i lived closer to houston.  i am in NE texas.  my dealer is in tyler and they look for reasons to void your warranty.  i think if i took the hand guards off of my xt they would probably void my warranty. lol

That is one thing I miss with my purchasing my Outty, I love the bike and the dealer is trying his best but BRP is a hard company to deal with on warranty issues from what I have seen and heard. My dealer's owner is a very rich man and is willing to take some lumps in the learning process (new dealer) but like he said they (BRP) really don't want to help in allot of cases unless pushed. Now even the owner admitted maybe it was because he is a new dealer and does not know all the "loop holes" yet. LIke my Yamaha dealer wow it seems everything is under warranty but he has been dealing for a long time and is a high volume dealer. So point being I am glad to hear that there are some very good BRP dealers out there and that BRP backs them. So there is still hope.....lol

I might have to wait on the 31's till you get me talked into putting a lift on my bike.

I wanted to make it to Crosby but, it was looking like it was either gonna be Crosby or go and race next weekend. I decided to hold off and go do a little racing.

Hear that guys he was riding the brand new red 800 Can-am with the 4in lift off the showroom floor and broke it!  Eric I can't buy it now!

lmao j/k Eric.... Man I am kicking myself in the ___ because I am having a hard time getting up there.  With these holidays and busy schedules I can't even hardly make it to the bathroom

That is a very nice bike.  I bet you like putting it up at night or it probaly stays on the floor.

Haven't heard from you, but do you only have outlaws stocked in the store?  what other tires?

Thanks

NE Texas Eustace/ Athens- My dealer is I 45 Sales   Gary Teague .... He is a mudder himself - all the years in business and only 1 case not warrantable - the guy brought in the 800 with no muffler - the pipe was packed full of mud and sand- and 1/4" sand sitting on the pistons and in the head.... Super guy's - I get a little frustrated with the young employee's over there but still by far the best dealer I have ever worked with.. Tell him Randy sent you the 08 650 camo - they will know...lol

I just picked up my 800 on Friday.  I really dont think it's the dealer,  Eric is the reason to buy from Gander on 290.  HE went above and beyond to get me a Yellow XT when none were in the region.  I dont think I will say exactly what he did, but lets say when the guy says he going to do something, he does it.  You dont find that to often these days.

If he was not there is would be just like the past or any other retailer.

the 4" is sitting on the show room floor back with the xtr's on it because i had to go try out the 31s at crosby this weekend and yes i broke my fornt output shaft. BUT it was my fault i was in some really nasty stuff and was backing out of it when it broke. no biggie order a new one this morning.

I do have some outlaws left 28s and 27s. if you need 29.5s then i can get them pretty quick. do i just need to go ahead and put them on "little red riding Bomb" for you. lol

depends on the dealer that is pretty much all i can say without throwing myself under a bus. now if you put 32s or 31s on it then your drivetrain is not cover!!!  that is the reason that i went a rode the 31s this past weekend to see how they reacted and what kind of stress they put on the bike. i ride hard but smart. and i can see where someone wouldnt back out and blow the motor or transmission. and that is the only reason. i am paying for my front output shaft because of 31s. and 32s you will be on your own, because that tire in my opinion is too much for any ATV.

it is because we are cat locked over here. Gander Mountain has contracts with AC and CanAm. most of the time we have cats but in a case where we are "cat Locked" then canams go in. i am lucky that i am at a canam shop. love the bikes.

it all depends on the market. spring store here in houston sells an off brand but that is because of the distance of canam and ac dealerships around them. some markets cant justifycarrying them in their store.

Wish the ones in NC would carry Can-am as there arent that many dealers in the area. None within 45 minutes of me that carry can-ams, and my Fayetteville,NC gander mt is 20 minutes away and carries Cats

Just a bump to the top...Eric..aka Greenhead really helped me out. Even 4 or 500 miles he still helped me out due to the sorry local dealership here. Once again Kudos to Gander Mountain..we need more dealerships like GM and people like Eric that willing to go the extra mile and help people out....Once again thanks..and see you on the trail.

Maybe we should call this forum the " Gander Mountain " forum..... Please.... What's up with this anyways?.... I mean, I am all for people helping out, but it's kinda getting to be a broken record with the same people recommending Gander Mountain all the time...

Maybe we should call this forum the " Gander Mountain " forum..... Please.... What's up with this anyways?.... I mean, I am all for people helping out, but it's kinda getting to be a broken record with the same people recommending Gander Mountain all the time...

Maybe we should name the forum after them since they are only dealer in United States that seems to know whats goin on. Not all of us live in Canada where the parts are.

I tell you what I met Eric at Gander when two of my buddies bought  their can ams.  I live 3.5 hours from him and I can tell you that i will be making the drive there to buy my 650 in april.  As, a matter of fact i would drive more than that to deal with him.  Good guy and has help out a few of my club members when they were in a bind!!  Kudos Gander Mountian and Eric!!!!!

Also, to people that live in Louisiana stay the **** away from Lafayette and New Orleans Powers Sports the will bend you over in a Heart Beat!!!
